The 2017-18 school year is underway and your PTO board is full of momentum, propelling our school forward. We have a fun, friendly, service-based team who has found themselves short of one Vice President. We are asking that you please consider contributing some of your time and talents to the betterment of Hyde Park School!

As with any year, it is impossible to predict changes in our schedules, and volunteer organizations often need to fill positions mid-year. I see this opening as an opportunity for a person to stand up and have their voice heard, and to bring fresh ideas and opinions into an organization that impacts so many children. In order for the PTO to exist and to evolve, it requires new parents who want to engage and effect change. All of us are faced with the challenges of too little time and a hesitation to try something new. Every parent on our current board was once a first-time volunteer who juggles work, kids, life and service to our school. So this is your opportunity; I welcome all candidates to come forward and join the team!!

There are absolutely no requirements to fill the Vice President position other than a desire to make a difference and be a team player. The only responsibility for the 2017-18 school year will be to shadow the current President and learn the schedule of events for the following year. You will not have any hard line responsibilities this year; it will be a year of training to prepare for stepping into the President position for the 2018-19 school year.
