Hello Middleborough!

The summer months for most libraries is a busy time, and the Middleborough Public Library is certainly buzzing with activity!  As our annual Summer Reading program begins, we hope that you will join us in signing up, attending some great programs, doing a few challenges, and winning yourself a prize or two.

We've got fun concerts for the younger set, metalsmithing and 3D printing for teens, even a day for making some unique custom bookmarks during the Make Your Mark Bookmark sale and crafting event on 7/22 from 10am-2pm. Programs and activities galore, all in the name of reading, which, let's be honest, you know you were going to do anyway. So let's have some fun in the sun, and get to reading!

See you at the Library!

Did You Know?...

The Library offers the Middleborough High School yearbook collection in digital format on our website?

Now you can look through the digitized versions of every MHS yearbook from 1929 to 2015.  Whether you knew it as Timaron, the Centennial, the Orange and Black, the Orange Peal, or the Memorialite, you can find it online on our homepage.  Go to www.midlib.org and click on the photograph of the Timaron cover.

Every page from each yearbook can be viewed, enlarged and searched.  Searchable terms are highlighted for easy finding on the page.  In addition, the visually-impaired can click on an audio button to have any text read out loud.
The digitization of the MHS yearbooks was made possible by the Middleborough Public Library, the Boston Public Library and Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

It's Our Birthday. Celebrate The Fourth with some Fun Facts.

1. Thomas Jefferson changed the wording of the Declaration of Independence from "the pursuit of property" to "the pursuit of happiness."

2. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826, in what may be the most extraordinary coincidence in all of history.

3. The Liberty Bell had nothing to do with July 4th. It wasn't called the "Liberty Bell" until the 1830s and that's also when it got its famous crack.
