Helping and Housing Fairfax Homeless, One Family at a Time
Visit us on the web at

Fall is a beautiful time of year and marks the anticipation of some of our favorite holidays: Halloween for our kids, Thanksgiving for family and friends, and the December celebrations of Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa.  During this fall, we ask you to please also think of our client families -- those who are homeless or jobless and about to become homeless, who cannot fill the Thanksgiving table with an abundance of goodies, who can't give their children the things our own children often take for granted -- Hanukkah, Christmas or Kwanzaa presents.
FPASS Agreement with County's Coordinated Services Planning  to Help Families Avoid Homelessness

Family PASS has long focused on trying to help families before they lose their homes.  However, due to limited shelter resources, those already homeless are, understandably, a priority for Fairfax County's Coordinated Services Planning, the referral agency that directs families to shelters and other county resources.  This often leaves those at imminent risk of homelessness without much needed assistance at a critical time. The good news is that under a new agreement between Family PASS and Coordinated Services Planning, Coordinated Services Planning (CSP)will screen those at-risk clients and refer them directly to Family PASS for immediate assistance. This is a tremendous step forward in Family PASS's mission to help families avoid homelessness. Family PASS will provide case management support to regain housing stability AND work with these families towards educational and career goals. Clients in this program will come from  Vienna, Oakton, Reston, Herndon and McLean. Family PASS expects its first client referrals from CSP beginning October 1.

So far this year, Family PASS has helped 31 families through its collaborations with Shelter House, Northern Virginia Family Services, and Cornerstones.  This has been possible with your support and with the dedication of Family PASS's Senior Case Management Supervisor Sou Han and Case Manager Jessica Sweeney.

Community Support

We also thank The Closet of Herndon for its generous donation to Family PASS and to Caboose Brewing Company for designating 5% of all sales on July 26 to Family PASS.
