About the NLLD  
The North Lafourche Conservation, Levee, and Drainage District (known as NLLD) was formed in 1992 to provide drainage and flood protection services for the northern portion of Lafourche Parish, including the entire parish north of the Intracoastal Canal. 

The District includes over 250 miles of levees and drainage canals, and over 40 pump stations.

Voters Approve Tax Renewal for 
North Lafourche Flood Protection



On Saturday, October 14, voters in the North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District (NLLD) overwhelmingly approved a 30-year property tax renewal at a reduced rate of 6 mills dedicated to continued construction and maintenance of levee and drainage projects.  

The reduced 6-mill rate will begin in 2019 and generate an estimated $2.1 million each year to build long-term flood protection projects in North Lafourche.  
 
Since 2011, NLLD has completed 25 levee and drainage projects, and currently has eight projects under construction and 17 projects in the design or developmental phase.
