Welcome Dr. Pauline Reohr

Dr. Reohr's first position out of residency was Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Dartmouth Medical School in Vermont for 2 years. After that, she then moved to the Boston area.

For the past 23 years she has practiced dermatology at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. She has continued clinical teaching during that time as Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Tufts University Medical School and as Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School.

She was named to Boston Magazine's list of top doctors in Boston in 2016 and 2017. She has experience evaluating and treating all types of skin diseases, tumors, and skin complaints.

Dr. Reohr and her husband are excited to relocate to the Roaring Fork Valley in December 2017 and explore all the area holds. She also hopes to become a better skier, mountain biker, and fly fisherman so that she can keep up with their 3 young adult sons who plan to visit often. Dr. Reohr will be joining us in December and seeing patients in Willits and on Spring St.

Common Skin Conditions
Seborrheic Dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis is a very common skin condition that causes redness, scaly patches, and dandruff. This condition tends to develop in oily areas of the body. It most often affects the scalp, but it can also occur in the following areas:
  • in and around the ears
  • on the eyebrows
  • on the nose
  • on the back
  • on the upper portion of the chest

The symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis are often aggravated by various factors, including stress and change of seasons. The types of symptoms that develop can vary from person-to-person. It's also possible for symptoms to occur on different parts of the body.

Dandruff shampoos are frequently used to treat seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp including Glytone® Kertyol which helps eliminate scales and calms redness and itching.
If your symptoms don't improve, please contact our office to schedule an appointment.
Keratosis Pilaris

Keratosis pilaris is a common condition affecting approximately 50 percent to 80 percent of teens, and 40 percent of adults, according to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Keratosis pilaris occurs when your pores are clogged with keratin, a protein found in your skin, nails, and hair. You're more likely to get it if you have dry skin or eczema.

Keratosis pilaris is caused by the buildup of keratin in hair follicles. Hair follicles are small sacs under the skin from which your hair grows. When keratin plugs the sacs, the skin develops bumps that look like tiny whiteheads or goose bumps.

Generally, the bumps are the same color as your skin. These bumps may appear red on fair skin or dark brown on dark skin. Keratosis pilaris often develops in patches that have a rough, sandpapery feel. These patches appear most commonly on the cheeks, upper arms, buttocks, or thighs.

Keratosis pilaris isn't harmful, but difficult to treat. Glytone® KP Kit features the basics to reduce rough, uneven skin associated with keratosis pilaris. Formulated with glycolic acid, it helps exfoliate dead skin cells for smoother, softer skin.

Platelet-Rich Plasma is an injectable hair loss treatment that uses a few tubes of the patient's own blood, after being centrifuged, which are injected into the treated areas, releasing growth factors that increase the proliferation of reparative cells. Our blood plasma (PRP) contains active growth factors which can promote hair growth. Helping to restore one's confidence, the end result is a fuller, healthier looking head of hair. Platelet-Rich Plasma is suitable for both men and women. It is a state of the art, non-surgical, totally natural, alternative medical procedure used for the treatment of hair loss, hair thinning and in some cases, preserving pigmentation and re-pigmentation.

The doctor takes a little blood which is then treated in a centrifuge so that only the enriched cells or platelets (PRP) remain. The PRP or highly concentrated Platelet Rich Plasma, including essential growth proteins, is injected into the scalp or areas to be treated using a special micro needle.

The use of platelet-rich plasma first began in sports medicine and dentistry. "In oral surgery and dentistry, these substances have been considered to aid in the successful grafting of bone into areas of the facial skeleton," says Dr. Fred Fedok, president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. "In the field of sports medicine, there is widespread use of PRP in the management of arthritis, joint injuries, and tendon repair."
