What Sustains You?
The word sustain means to strengthen or support. For years I thought that what sustained me was success, and being liked, and I chased both of these like my life depended on it. I've come to learn recently that what truly sustains me is
meaningful connections.
(read my full blog post here)
This is also part of what sustains 8 Limbs. Meaningful connections help to form sangha, a Sanskrit word that means association, or community. We hope that you have experienced meaningful connections through your time at 8 Limbs and that they support you in your life on and off the yoga mat.
And as you support 8 Limbs with your memberships and class cards, 8 Limbs contributes to the sustenance of over 60 employees. With rising Seattle expenses for all, we want to continue to raise teacher and staff wages and benefits so that they are sustained. We will be increasing several tuition options tomorrow, October 2. You have one more day to purchase drop-ins, 5 and 10-class cards, monthly unlimited membership, and most of the monthly special classes (
Yoga Nidra Yoga Bliss,
Sound Bath,
Yoga for the Forest Dweller Years, and
Somat for Relaxation & Rejuvenation), before they go up slightly. AND we want you to be able to afford a regular yoga practice at 8 Limbs; our
Access 8 program offers income-relevant tuition options.
Now it's your turn. Take a moment to center yourself. Take a few deep breaths and ask: What sustains you?
Lastly, it's time to raise a glass: 8 Limbs turns 21 this month, officially on Friday the 13th (a personal favorite of mine, honestly!). Local Kombucha brewer CommuniTea will be pouring tastes of their special beverage at each of the four 8 Limbs locations on
October 12 and 16. Come take a class and a swig, or just drop by to hang out!
