Enrollment Planning for Next Fall

Yes, we are already interviewing candidates interested in joining the Husky family next fall!

The messages below come to you from Ryan Tillson ( [email protected] ) and Shannon Kitani ( [email protected] ) :

Help us Recruit for 2018-2019:
The year is moving quickly and the admission season for the 2018-2019 school year is underway. We appreciate your help to spread the word about upcoming admission events by referencing this link:  https://www.rollinghillsprep.org/page/admission/events-and-deadlines  or clicking the button below this paragraph for a PDF flyer . We hope each family can send along the information to friends, co-workers or anyone else who may have an interest in learning more about our programs. In addition, we offer daily, personal tours; should you wish to send our contact information along and make the connection then we will coordinate a time with anyone to come in when it works best for them. Word of mouth is our best avenue for ensuring mission-appropriate students apply and enroll.

Siblings Applying for 2018-2019:
It's always our goal and intention to give priority to our current families who have another student ready to apply.  If you have a son or daughter who is planning to apply for next year, pleased email us separately as soon as you can and we can discuss the process individually.

Flexible Tuition for returning families:
The Flexible Tuition website www.solutionsbysss.com is now up and open for all returning families to update and submit information for 2018-2019.  The deadline to have your files updated and 2016 tax information uploaded will be Wednesday, November 29, 2017, right after the Thanksgiving holiday. Funds to help out with tuition will be tighter than ever this year, so time and meeting deadlines will be of the essence.

Thank you again for your support and we look forward to working with you as we move through the coming months to meet and engage the next wave of Husky families to our two great schools.

Commemorating
Lisa Patterson

As a community, it's important for all of us to come together and support one another in times of hardship and need. On Tuesday, October 17th, Rizzo's Pizza in Lomita (24100 Narbonne Avenue) is holding a fundraiser that will go all day to support the Patterson Family. Click the button below to view the flyer for more information.

Additionally, the football team had stickers made to honor Lisa Patterson on their helmets. Around 60 of these stickers are available to the community in exchange for donations to the Patterson Family. Contact Bobbi Spahr at
if you are interested.

Homecoming:
Dancing Through The Decades
October 21st, 7-11 p.m.

Join us for the Upper School Homecoming Dance in the MPR. Dress up in the style of your favorite decade or beloved musical performer: flappers, Elvis, hippies, Michael Jackson, etc.

Tickets can be purchased from the office for $25 and $5 of each purchase will go to the Patterson family. Guest passes can be acquired in the office as well.

Access Books
Book Drive

From 10/11 to 10/21, RHP and Ren will be contributing to the Access Books Book Drive, which supports schools in lower income neighborhoods. Our goal is to collect 500 books for Wilshire Crest Elementary School, where most of the student population lives at or below the poverty line. The donated books will be distributed on 10/21 at Wilshire Crest Elementary.

Students can provide further support and gain up to six service learning hours if they help distribute books and aid construction of Wilshire Crest's library on 10/21. Volunteers must fill out a liability waiver provided below. For more information, contact Yesela Tadeo at [email protected].

Homecoming Football Game

The 2017 Homecoming Football game takes place Friday, 10/20 at Gaudenti Field at 3:30pm where the Huskies take on La Verne Lutheran High School.  Students, parents, alumni & friends are invited to join us as we cheer on the team at the last home game of the season.  Senior cheerleaders & football players will be honored at the game.

Everyone is encouraged to wear their Husky gear as it is a Husky Pride Day.  The class with the highest percentage of attendance at the game will win a catered BBQ lunch by the Athletic Department during Spirit Week (10/30 - 11/3).

UCLA invites Mrs. Dyment to be an
Admissions reader

UCLA  Undergraduate Admission has invited Mrs. Dyment to be a  UCLA  Admission Reader. Readers assist in the holistic review of freshman applicants. An extremely limited number of new readers were selected for the Fall Quarter 2018 admission cycle. This opportunity will be extremely beneficial to Mrs. Dyment and the College Office in preparing our students to be competitive applicants to  UCLA  as well as other UC's. Congratulations to Burnie for this great honor!

Damon Sun

"Science not only makes us understand the world better, it also helps us understand our minds. I agree that our emotion blasts our world with a variety of feelings, but it more often misleads us to wrong perception. And it is essential for us to know about our subconscious bias. For example, people who we hang out with appear preferable to those who we don't, because our mind tells us that our friends are similar to us. "

Paolo Speciale

"This year as seniors, we went back on the Colorado River and as many of you might have heard, we experienced very challenging weather conditions. This was mainly from high winds that really made it hard for us to canoe on the river. There were a lot of difficulties, some canoes filled with water, some things ended up wet, and we ended up having to swim back to shore and cut short the ropes. But the students and teachers all pulled together, and ended up safely enjoying the rest of the trip at camp. So I ended my outdoor ed experience on the same trip I had started on five years ago, we overcame some adversity and it still was very fun in the end. "

On Tuesday, Kathy Hagee participated in a webinar that showcased lessons developed by teachers who attended the   NASA & Flight Technology   colloquium at the Kennedy Space Center with the Astronauts Memorial Foundation.

On Thursday, Middle School Girls' Volleyball was the first school team to play a game on the new Volleyball and Basketball court on campus.
