It was wonderful to welcome our middle school students and staff back to school this week. Thank you to our families and community for coming together to support them as they transition to their new buildings.

NATIONAL MERIT STUDENTS
The National Merit Scholarship Corp. has announced Kenston seniors, Jacqueline Jeromin, William Parsons and Abigail Vossler were named semifinalists in the National Merit Achievement and National Merit Scholarship academic competitions.  Approximately 16,000 semifinalists were named in the 63rd annual National Merit Program.  

Kenston's Commended Scholars are Alyssa Kassouf, Morgan Spehar and Madison Spicuzza.

ALL-NATIONAL HONOR ENSEMBLE MIXED CHOIR
Three deserving members of the Kenston High School Choir received the high honor of joining the "best of the best" for the National Association for Music Education's 2017 All-National Honor Ensembles November 26-29, at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.

Performers represent collaboration and creativity in its highest musical form. Billy Glime (Tenor), Ryan Kohn (Bass), and Georgeanna Oxford (Soprano) were three of only eight chosen from Ohio to join the 281 mixed choir vocalists. 
AUDITOR OF STATE AWARD WITH DISTINCTION
The Kenston School District is proud to accept the Auditor of State Award with Distinction as presented by the Auditor of State, Dave Yost. 

The award is given to those who file an annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and timely financial reports in accordance with the GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), as well as receive a "clean" audit report designated by not containing findings for recovery, material citations or weaknesses, significant deficiencies, single audit findings or any questioned costs.

The Timmons PTO is hosting an awe inspiring Illusion & Magic Show performed by internationally recognized Rick Smith Jr, who you may have seen on nationally televised shows Ellen, Shark Tank, America's Got Talent, and the Tonight Show! Please join us for this fun event that is sure to be a hit for the entire family.

CANDIDATES' NIGHT FORUM
Political Action Committee of Kenston (PACK) and the Geauga County League of Women Voters will host a Candidates' Night Forum on Wednesday, October 25 at 7pm in the Kenston High School, Robert A. Lee Auditorium, 9500 Bainbridge Road.

Candidates and Issue Representatives will present, followed by a question and answer session from the audience. 
VOTING AT HIGH SCHOOL
For the November 2017 Election, Bainbridge Township voters in Precincts C, E and H will continue to cast their ballot in the Auxiliary Gym at Kenston High School.  

The Board of Elections will contact individuals impacted by this change.  In the future, Gardiner Center can be used as a polling place.
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
Kenston's own Chef Kimberly McCune Gibson competed in the Food Network's Chopped competition earning runner-up honors.

Kimberly graduated from Kenston in the class of 2000 and is now chef owner of Hungry Bee Catering, Cultivate, and Sapphire Creek winery.

1993 grad Justin Herdman recently took the oath of office to become the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
