This musical adaptation celebrates the 40th anniversary of the classic film.
Based on Nik Cohn's 1975 New York Magazine article "Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night" and the Norman Wexler screenplay it inspired, the musical focuses on Tony Manero, a Brooklyn youth whose weekend is spent at the local discotheque. There, as he luxuriates in the admiration of the crowd and a growing relationship with Stephanie Mangano, he can temporarily forget the realities of his life, including a dead-end job in a paint store and his gang of deadbeat friends.

A darkly funny futuristic view of sex

Anjali works her routine government-issued job as a madam to a sexbot, when maintenance man Ven arrives to find the robot exhibiting unusual - and illegal - human-like behavior. The pair strike up an uneasy partnership - she expands the robot's repertoire of behaviors and he brings in the high-paying clientele. But when the clients start asking for more, Anjali must decide just how far she is willing to go.   This darkly comedic sci-fi play examines the boundaries of consciousness and the moral grey area of exploitation.

"Collyer's witty two-hander merges black comedy with the absurd and the political, using sharp, well-observed and funny dialogue."
~ The Herald Sun, Melbourne

"Smart, slick, and funny - hilarious one-liners... are peppered liberally throughout this clear, complex, crystallized story.  Big ideas, with an even bigger heart."
 ~ Heckler.com.au

Entr'Acte Theatrix to Donate Funds to the Red Cross for
Hurricane Relief
(see below)

"Let's do the Time Warp again...."

Halloween is just around the corner, and who better to celebrate with than the denizens of Dr. Frank N. Furter's home-sweet-castle in Richard O'Brien's beloved cult classic, The Rocky Horror Show.

This beloved classic is an outrageous assemblage of - and humorous tribute to - the most stereotypical science fiction and horror movies, Marvel comics, Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello outings and rock 'n' roll of every vintage. The play (upon which the classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show is based) has grown from an experimental production originally produced in a small London theatre in June 1973, to a cult phenomenon with fans world-wide.  The musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple who, when caught in a storm, find refuge in the home of a decidedly unusual scientist who is madly working towards unveiling his latest and greatest creation.

A Note from Entr'Acte Theatrix:
"Our company is built on helping our community, including those in our global community affected by the recent storms. Entr'Acte Theatrix is partnering with the Red Cross. A portion of ticket proceeds from select performances of The Rocky Horror Show will be donated to the Red Cross to aid to hurricane relief efforts from the devastation left by hurricanes Irma and Maria. Donation containers will be available at all performances as well.

On a sweltering summer morning in 1882, in Fall River Massachusetts, a prominent business man and his wife were brutally axed to death in their home. Their daughter, Lizzie Borden, was the prime suspect.  Lizzie's trial was a coast-to-coast media sensation, and her story has become an integral part of American criminal mythology.  Lizzie:  The Musical Lizzie: The Musical  is a vibrant, rollicking, rock musical telling of this legendary crime.

Although the show's music is primarily raucous, rock, and of the 'Riot Girl' genre, and its volume is definitely high, the play also offers a sensitive look at what could drive someone to (allegedly) commit such a heinous crime (Borden was acquitted of the murders after an all-male jury deliberated for just ninety minutes). It allows audiences to relate to the Borden sisters - Lizzie and Emma -  in a way they might not have considered before. This emotional connection wouldn't be possible without the four incredible performers that make up the cast - Anne Marie Olsen, Sabrina Gore, Leah Sessa, and Hanna Richter.

Evening Star

presents
Sol After Dark's
Premiere Production
October 26 - 28
Shakespeare's shortest tragedy, thought to have first been performed in 1606, and often called "The Scottish Play", Macbeth explores the damaging physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake. Of all the plays Shakespeare wrote during the reign of James I, who was patron of Shakespeare's acting company, Macbeth most clearly reflects the playwright's relationship with his sovereign.

Seth Trucks and Sara Elizabeth Grant are collaborating to create the one-act adaptation consisting of a cast of four.  Audience members will be immersed in all that is terrifying about power and the repercussions that follow.

This is the first production of Sol After Dark - a series that Evening Star's Artistic Director Rosalie Grant says will be "something a little off the beaten theatre path for those hungry for a different bite of theatre."

First Time in Ft. Lauderdale!
February 1 - March 25, 2018

Every mother dreams her children will grow up to be happy, healthy, and successful.  Every Jewish mother secretly - and often not so secretly -  adds specifics to her wish:  A doctor, a lawyer, a dentist, or these days, a Silicon Valley tycoon would make her very happy.  Brad Zimmerman's mother has finally adapted to her 'actor-waiter' son's career choice and financial situation: "If all goes well, I think Brad is going to buy a bookcase," she boasts to her friends.

My Son the Waiter:  A Jewish Tragedy   is the story of Brad Zimmerman's struggle to fulfill his dream and 'make it' as a comedic actor in New York.  One-part standup, one-part theatrical, and all parts uproarious My Son the Waiter:  A Jewish Tragedy has garnered rave reviews wherever it has played.
