October 2017: Farmers' Market EBT News
for California Market Managers, Farmers, and Friends
Quick Links

The Ecology Center recently created informational flyers for Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Service (LA DPSS), promoting CalFresh at farmers' markets, to be part of a direct mailer to CalFresh recipients in LA county. They are available in five different languages. Take a look:
We are also looking to partner with farmers' markets, local government agencies, health and social services offices, non profits, and community organizations in other counties that can reach CalFresh recipients,  in order to get the word out about EBT access at farmers' markets across the state . If you know of any, please reach out to us directly, or connect us to these organizations in your area.

If you are interested in having flyers which highlight EBT accessible farmers' markets in your county then we can help! The Ecology Center can provide the design, translation services, and print the flyers for your county.  Email us anytime at [email protected]

Lisa joins us as the new Farmers' Market Access and Equity Program Associate. She has an extensive background in food service, grocery, and farmers' markets where she volunteered and worked at for several years. Her love for the environment and sustainable agriculture stems from visiting her grandparents' farm in Germany as a child, where she helped harvest vegetables and feed animals. She furthered her passion for local food by attending San Francisco State University where she majored in Family and Consumer Sciences, with an emphasis in Nutrition. While at SFSU, she helped start a community garden, helped launch the Sustainability Coalition, and lead the Real Food Challenge campaign. In her new role, she will be actively assisting with the EBT and Market Match programs, assisting new applicants with the FNS application, and maintaining the FM Finder website.
