Our "Never Too Young to Serve" ministry for families has undertaken a special project with the Department of Children and Families in Norwalk. Please consider a donation to help St. A's create a warm and inviting space for children in crisis.

We are collecting specific items and cash donations towards items that need to be purchased to brighten a very institutional children's room. This is a perfect way for you to involve your children in helping to select a gently used item from your home or to shop for a new one.
On Sunday, October 15, we will gather together at the Hospitality Coffee after the 10:00 am Mass for item drop off and our children will work together to create a communal art piece for display in the room.

Sign up below to help on this project by donating/sponsoring items AND sign your child(ren) up to participate in the communal art project!

Our Lady of Fatima Centennial Prayer
O Sweet Mother of God, Ever Virgin Mary, Our Dear Lady of Fatima, we lift up our prayers to you during this Centennial Celebration.  When the Angel Gabriel announced God's plan, you listened attentively with a receptive heart to the call of Heaven.  By your FIAT, our Savior entered into the world and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.  Now in our generation you have become the voice of the Holy Spirit, instructing the world with the Truth about sin, righteousness and judgement.  May we embrace your call to repent with a truly contrite spirit and to enthrone God as the rightful King of our souls and our families.  O Queen of Peace, may your Immaculate Heart triumph and may the Church be strengthened to defend the faithful against the many errors of this age.  May we heed your call to not fear, but to entrust ourselves more completely to your Divine Son, Jesus.  May our heartfelt recitation of the Rosary and contemplation of its mysteries help to renew our zeal for the salvation of souls and the Christian renewal of this world.
Amen.

Many thanks today to Ms. Linnane for today's High School Fair which was a great success.  Students had the opportunity to meet students and admissions directors, and ask questions. They should have lots of literature to share with you at home.

Trinity Catholic Students and St. Aloysius alumni Junior Emily Sluga and Sophmore Class Vice President Sean Oates spoke with current students at the annual St.Aloysius School Fair.

  • The due date for all donations will be on Thursday October 19.
  • Donations can be made in cash or checks, made payable to Holy Cross Catholic Church.
  • Donation  jar will be at the main office.
  • If you have any questions just contact Charlotte McGinness or Norah McNichols

We know our teachers are great teachers, but here are some things you don't know.
This week featuring Mrs. Latham
(4th Grade)

1.)  If you could take your students on a field trip anywhere, where would you take them ?
If I could take a class anywhere on a field trip, I would to go Europe. I would love to travel to the different countries and explore the museums, cultures, all while enjoying learning about the history.

2.) What do you like to do on rainy days?
On rainy days, I try my hardest to be productive and clean, but I usually end up binge watching my favorite shows (lots of HGTV), or I do love to curl up and read a good book!

3.) What fictional character do you wish you could meet?
If I could meet any fictional character, I would like to meet Charlotte from Charlotte's Web. We are currently reading this book in class, and I feel that Charlotte is the epitome of a fantastic friend, and has a such positive outlook on life.

4.) What is your favorite season?
It is tough to pick a favorite season...while I do love summer and visiting the beach, I would have to say my favorite season is fall. I love the beautiful colors of the leaves, the changing temperature, and my two favorite holidays are in the fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving.

2017-2018 Calendar

October 13, 2017

Dear Parents,

This past Monday we celebrated Columbus Day. How Columbus and his crew and all of the explorers were able  to navigate unchartered seas is an amazing thought to contemplate - without access to the
modern technology that we have. Their pure determination and trust are lessons to be  learned. Let us take some time to contemplate the accomplishments, and thank God for the  pure grit and work ethic needed to put new lands on the map!

We want to thank all our families who joined us in the Parish Homecoming Fest. It was truly a success! The weather held out and it was just a great time; especially with our Bulldog Mascot playing the drums!

Please check your mail in the coming days for  Terra Nova test results. We mailed out student scores today.

The After School Clubs are underway and are doing extremely well! Robotics Engineering, Indoor tennis, American Girl Doll Club, Homework Club, Volleyball, Art Sculpture Club, Chess (competitive meet scheduled on October 29 th at All Saints School), Band and Book Bunch seem to be flying! There will be many more interesting Clubs to come in Session 2 beginning the week of December 2nd!

Today, Friday, October 13 th , is a very special day in the Catholic Church. We celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima/Our Lady of the Rosary. It marks the 100 th Anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady to young children in Fatima, Portugal. Reciting the Rosary is a very poignant tool. Each Friday try to sit with your children and lead them in rosary.  It is a sacred time with great reverence and great trust that their prayers will be answered. Take the time today to join the millions of Catholics throughout the world and join together in this devotion. May this beautiful weather warm you inside and outside!

Most importantly, please tell your family and friends that we will be holding our Open House, this Sunday, October 15 th from 11:00-12:30 pm. Activities for siblings will be provided! Parents, YOU are our best advertising tool! We thank you in advance!

God Bless You!
