Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten "Made with Love" Art Project with Ms. Vogel
Last week, our cute preschool and pre-kindergarten students spent an enjoyable morning with their loved ones learning about art from our amazingly talented art teacher, Ms. Melanie Vogel! Ms. Vogel taught them about artist Wassily Kandinsky, one of the pioneers of abstract modern art, who exploited the evocative interrelation between color and form to create an aesthetic experience that engaged the sight, sound, and emotions of the public. Our students used markers and a water sprayer to make abstract sun catchers! It was a wonderful moment to see moms, dads, and grandparents enjoying the opportunity to be creative together!

Early Dismissal Day ---      Friday, October 6, at 12:00 pm
Because of our early dismissal, there will be no lunch service on Friday, October 6. If your child will be staying at school, please send him or her with a sack lunch.

Junior High Shadow Days at Fairmont Prep
In order for your child to better understand what an average day is like at Fairmont Prep, we encourage you to schedule a Shadow Day for him or her. Accompanied by one of Fairmont Prep's outstanding student ambassadors, your student will sit in on classes in his or her area of interest and spend time with peers to hear about day-to-day life at Fairmont Prep. Transportation to and from the junior high campus will be provided, and lunch will also be provided. Permission slips must be turned in to your campus assistant director at least four days before the scheduled Shadow Day, and your student will need to wear his or her regular required uniform on this day. We have various Shadow Day options throughout October and early November. You can access more information by downloading our informational flyer, which also includes the required permission slip. You may  register online.

School Picture Retake Day
Wednesday, October 11, in the gym
If your child was absent or if you were not satisfied with your child's picture from the original picture day, you can have his or her picture taken on retake day. If it is your child's first time taking a picture, please make sure you get a picture envelope at the front desk. If your child is retaking a picture, you will need to return the original package of pictures on October 11. It is important to return them, as it will allow the photographer to know which package you ordered. Please remember that all junior kindergarten through 8th grade students need to wear their formal dress uniforms and sweaters (or blazers for junior high students).

Upcoming FPA Meeting
Mark your calendar for the FPA meeting on Thursday, October 12, at 8:30 am in the multipurpose room to hear all of the exciting news about the Fall Festival and upcoming holiday plans. Breakfast will be served!

Kitchen Serving Breakfast!
Nutrition Management is pleased to announce that it now offers breakfast, as of September 18! Breakfast will be served from 7:00 am to 7:50 am before school for all students, and then 2nd through 8th grade students can purchase breakfast during their snack recesses.  Students can use cash or their lunch accounts.
Please talk with your child about this option and perhaps discuss the rules of ordering and paying for breakfast with his or her lunch account. We are very excited to offer this option, as a good breakfast is so important for learning, and we all know how crazy mornings and kids can be! Our Historic Anaheim Campus has piloted this program, and it has been wonderful for the children!

Socktober Is Coming!
Like last year, it is with much excitement that our chapter of the National Junior Honor Society prepares to kick off its first service project of the year: Socktober! During the month of October, our chapter of NJHS is partnering with LIMBS International to prove that even the smallest acts of love, like donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of children living without stable housing.
We have 25 pairs of socks for sale in the front office while supplies last (25 of each size: kids or adults, girls or boys). If you purchase your socks from the front office, you don't have to wait ---   plus, you don't have to pay for shipping. If you order your socks to be shipped to your house, it ends up being $15.50 instead of $12.00 for the limited quantity available here at school.

Get your orders in now on our  We Help page!

In celebration of Socktober, students may wear any of the fun LIMBS International socks during the month of October in place of their regular uniform socks.

We hope that you will take a moment to help us play a small part in giving hope to homeless children and amputees around the world. Together we can make a difference, one step at a time.

Sincerely,
Members of the Fairmont Anaheim Hills' National Junior Honor Society Chapter

Fairmont Family Business Mixer
Friday, October 27, at 8:30 am
I've been thinking about creating a way for our parents at Anaheim Hills to meet each other and talk business. Many of our Fairmont parents own or operate their own businesses. Many parents are in senior management positions at a wide range of business entities. Others are influential people in their organizations. We all know a lot of people. The more connections we make, the better.

Here's the basic concept: We get together once a month and have the opportunity to share what we do. We network and make connections, and our Fairmont families can realize mutually beneficial business opportunities.

It's all about who you know: For example, whenever we need anything, the first question most of us ask is something like: "Do you know anyone who...?" Fill-in the blank with what you need ---   a good doctor, a good lawyer, a good real estate agent, a good plumber, a good electrician. You get the idea.

Our Fairmont Family Business Mixers will be held in combination with our Cougar Coffees on the last Friday of every month. After you grab your coffee, come into the multipurpose room, and join us. We'll start the mixer by 8:30 am, and I plan for us to finish by 9:15 am. I'll ask parents to briefly share what they do with the others in attendance, and I also plan to invite various guest speakers.

We'll get together for the first time immediately following Cougar Coffee on Friday, September 29, from 8:30 am to 9:15 am on the blacktop behind the multipurpose room. Later that same day, stop by our booth at the Fall Festival.

Look for our booth right next to the ticket booth at the Fall Festival. Related to your business, if you'd like to offer something to give away via raffle at the Fall Festival, you can join the other businesses that are already doing so. Send me an email, and I'll be happy to make arrangements with you.

Sincerely,
Dr. Kevin Rafferty
Campus Director

Husky Highlight
Students Cheer at Race for the Cure!
Fifty amazing Fairmont Prep students joined Mrs. Kunkle Sunday, September 24, at 5:00 am to cheer on 15,000+ walkers for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It was a beautiful sea of pink for the Avocado location cheer zone. The runners/walkers were so excited to see the students and share their enthusiasm. Between the high-fives, bubbles, and motivational cheering to not give up and continue the fight, the walkers made it across the finish line. Great job to the Fairmont Prep Huskies for taking the time to "Paws for a Cause!"
