HIV AND HOUSING RESEARCH SUMMIT IX
August 1-3, 2018 | Washington, DC

The Housing & HIV/AIDS Research Summit Series provides a unique interdisciplinary forum where researchers, PLWH, policy analysts and service providers can discuss new findings on the role of housing and other social determinants on the health of people with or at risk for HIV. The Summit Series is the premier venue for informing HIV/AIDS housing policy and discussing the social drivers of HIV disease. The North American Housing and HIV Summit IX will provide an opportunity for in-depth conversation about the importance of addressing a full range of social drivers of HIV and disparities in plans to end the HIV epidemic.

The focus of  The North American Housing and HIV Summit: Structural Interventions and Ending the Epidemic will be on the role of housing and other structural interventions in ending the HIV epidemic. The scope will include dissemination of research that looks at the social drivers of the HIV epidemic including extreme poverty, food insecurity, interpersonal violence, harmful substance use, mass incarceration and laws that criminalize HIV.  Summit IX will look at how we can use this research to impact policy and service delivery systems that lead to ending the HIV epidemic.  The North American Housing and HIV Summit IX will be held August 1 - 3, 2018, at the Capitol Hilton in Washington DC.

ADVOCACY UPDATE

National HIV Call-In Day

The latest attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act would have taken away health insurance coverage for millions of Americans.

We asked you to participate in the National HIV Call-In Day held earlier this week and thanks to your effort the Senate will NOT vote on the latest ACA repeal!

Nadler Amendment Passes

The House voted in September to increase HOPWA funding by $19 million!  Representative Diaz-Balart (R-FL) offered a series of amendments to the House FY18 omnibus funding bill, including Representative Nadler's (D-NY) amendment to increase HOPWA funding by $19 million. The House passed the amendments, including the HOPWA increase, by voice vote. Congress is expected to finalize F Y18 funding for HOPWA and other federal programs by the end of the year.

A special thank you to Representative Nadler and all who contributed to getting additional funding for HOPWA.

DONATE TO THE HIV HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORT
Support our people and HIV service organizations in need!

The Federal AIDS Policy Partnership (FAPP) is working hard to provide support to those in desperate need following the recent hurricanes that devastated parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. Many residents, including persons living with HIV, were left with little or no access to shelter, clean water, electricity, and life-sustaining medications and are.

The need is great as request from HIV service organizations describe the need for millions and millions of dollars to address their emergencies. Your donation will be the difference between life and death for thousands of people living with HIV in the affected areas.

We must do all we can to help.
