WEEKLY PROGRESS

On Wednesday, September 27, Hopi held its second community meeting to share final designs for the new school buildings and to inform families, staff and neighbors about the upcoming construction process. Thank you to everyone who attended. Your support, involvement and feedback is greatly appreciated. A concern was raised at the meeting regarding whether green space should be designed for baseball or soccer. It is currently under review.

On Thursday, September 28, the Bond & Capital Override Oversight Committee held its first meeting to review budgets and expenditures so far. A copy of the presentation that was reviewed will be available shortly on bond.susd.org. A list of committee members who represent every SUSD Learning Community can be found here.

As a reminder,  fences will go up this weekend at Hopi in preparation for the first phase of ground-level construction. Please see Principal Tamara Jagodzinski for information about how fields and playground space will be used during this first phase of construction.

Also ahead, work will begin soon to surface the tracks around our new football fields at Chaparral, Coronado and Saguaro. Here are the tentative dates for starting that work:
  • Coronado: 10/30
  • Saguaro: 12/12
  • Chaparral: TBD
During the surfacing process, there will be ZERO access to the tracks and fields for students, staff and the public. This is essential for safety and for ensuring the work is done right. Thank you for your understanding.
RUMOR OF THE WEEK ( or: Myth Busting)
