Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

Research, meetings, listening, learning; more research, more meetings, more listening, and more learning – that repeated routine pretty well summarizes my first week as City Manager of Pacifica as I immerse myself in getting to know the City Council, Staff, City Commissioners/Committee Members, the Community, and all of the major projects, programs, and services the City of Pacifica is committed to delivering. I would like to thank everyone for a warm welcome to Pacifica (and the days have literally been sunny and warm mostly!). I will personally thank you as we meet. I spent most of Saturday, September 23rd at Fog Fest, meeting many community members at the City booth. That was a great way to be introduced to Pacifica. I look forward to other upcoming events in the community, many which are noted in this “ Connect With Pacifica .”

There are numerous high-priority projects and issues currently underway in Pacifica. While I am listening and learning during my initial weeks and months, I will also be bringing my 27 years of local government experience to the table to lead the organization in its implementation of the City Council’s direction on these projects and issues.

This week the fire disasters impacting the North Bay communities are on the forefront of everyone’s hearts and minds. The City of Pacifica is doing its part to assist through regional mutual aid systems. The North County Fire Authority has deployed three engine companies and four chief officers for firefighting assistance. The Pacifica Police Department has been deploying two officers for each 12 hour operational period around the clock, assisting with evacuations, posted road closures, and other service calls. Our aid will continue through the weekend, and potentially beyond. Concerning regional air quality and health, please pay attention to conditions through the EPA’s resource:  www.airnow.gov

I look forward to providing more updates in the future through the weekly “ Connect With Pacifica .” And thank you for taking your time to make this connection!

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager
