Looking Toward this Sunday October 1, 2017

Scripture: Psalm 34 and Philippians 2: 1-17
Sermon: Faith in or Faith of?

Mary Margaret Porter will preach at 8:30 and 9:45 in Lingle Chapel and 11 in the sanctuary.

In seminary, a professor changed one word in a translation in one of Paul's letters that completely rocked my faith and has changed my notion of what it means to be a follower of Christ forever. This week, we will wrestle with what it means to be a faithful Christian in this secular world and what it means to, as Paul writes in 2 Philippians, "Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus." Come celebrate this World Communion Sunday as we together contemplate ways in which we may serve one another, here and around the world, as brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Geneva Choir will sing Draw Us in the Spirit's Tether at the 8:30 service.
The Chancel choir will sing Locus Iste at the 11:00 service .

Join us this Sunday following the 11 a.m. service as we honor and thank Mary Margaret Porter for her service as DCPC Parish Associate.

Ten Cents a Meal offering  will be received at all worship services this Sunday . Please place your donations in the red baskets. If each family at DCPC contributed 30ยข a day each day for 30 days, that would equal $9 per month.

Peace and Global Witness offering will be received at all worship services this Sunday.  This offering helps support ministries that work towards peace and reconciliation in our time.  25% remains local and has been designated by the Global Mission Committee to be sent to Galilee Ministries who offer resources, guidance, and support to refugee families in the Charlotte region.  25% of the offering is used to support peace work in the broader region and 50% is used to support global work through the Presbyterian Mission Agency.  Please give generously by check or credit card.  You may also text PEACE to 56512 to donate.
