Pioneer Days 2017 is going to be one for the history books!

Months of planning, debating, light-bulb moments and hair-pulling have come together for this year’s event that is combining elements of past Pioneer Days with new ideas that could carry over into Pioneer Days in the future. The whole point of this year’s celebration is to have something for everyone, young, old and in-between, to participate in.

Pioneer Days is really a labor of love and this year the efforts of all the fantastic volunteers, those who are bringing their past experience and knowledge and those newcomers to the event who take such pride in their community and want to give back – a hearty Thank You for all the invaluable hard work, dedication and insuring everything runs smoothly.

I would like to thank all of our very generous and loyal sponsors;

The heart of the summer Milky Way and Saturn are now on their downward turn toward the horizon so use this opportunity to get a good look at the summer showpieces. We will also observe the faint icy outer planets Neptune and Uranus for some of the best views of the year. Through our telescopes, Uranus and Neptune appear as small blue-green disks.

A tour of the best cosmic wonders in the fall sky including the Ring Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy and Owl Cluster.
