Human Rights Research Project Survey
If you are a youth (11-24 years old) or service provider that caters to youth in the following Albertan communities:
Camrose, Bashaw, Daysland, Forestburg, Hay Lakes, Ryley, Sedgewick, Tofield and Viking, the ACSRC would like to hear
your views, opinions and concerns about:
-Youth (11-24 years old) knowledge of human rights
-Educating youth about human rights
-How to spread information about human rights to youth
Participation is voluntary. Complete our survey
between August 15 to October 15, 2017.

Regional ECHO Meeting
The ACSRC and the Battle River Watershed Alliance welcomed a delegation from UNBC and Alberta Health Services to discuss the ECHO Network Project's regional case. Included in this delegation was principal researcher Dr. Margot Parkes. The group had the opportunity to tour the Battle River Watershed and to learn more about regional initiatives.

Rural Sustainability Plans in Canada: An analysis of structure, content and influence
This article highlights:
-Rural communities in Canada have diverse forms and processes of sustainability planning.
-Sustainability plans in Canada are also highly variable in form and content.
-Community characteristics do have an effect upon the structure and content of plans.
-There are regional consistencies in emphasis upon different pillars of sustainability, and smaller provinces have more diversified models.
-Social sustainability is a clear priority for many communities, and particularly for small/Northern/remote communities.

New Call for Proposals to Address the Issues of Rural and Remote Homelessness in Alberta
The Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) is currently accepting funding applications from organizations interested in obtaining financial assistance to achieve activities specific to meeting the needs of homeless and at-risk people living in rural and remote areas in the province of Alberta. Project activities must take place
outside
of the "Seven Cities" in
Alberta
(Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge,
Grande Prairie, Medicine Hat, and Fort McMurray).

Dareskedar Amsalu: ECHO Network Research Assistant
Dareskedar Amsalu's primary work is focused on developing a systematic and comprehensive inventory of datasets for environmental, community and health indicators across Canada, with more emphasis on Alberta. His project also involves working collaboratively with the Battle River Watershed Alliance and the ECHO Network research team to analyze the cumulative impacts of resource development on environment, health, and community at the watershed level.

The Power of Inclusive Communities
The 2017 FCSSAA Power of Prevention Conference is being held in Edmonton from November 8 to 10th. The conference offers a keynote on Building a Culture of Engagement along with sessions related to building equitable spaces and engaging youth.
