Keeping Kailua Village Green

Keeping the tall, beautiful trees green on the Palani Road medians was a major concern during the County's mandated water restriction. As the ground got drier, the unseasonal leaf fall became more noticeable. As everyone knows, trees need water to stay healthy. Many of you noticed and complimented us on the water truck hired by KVBID to haul water to keep Kailua Village green and beautiful.
More Security Ambassadors

The Kailua Village Business Improvement District's mission is creating a model sustainable community that is a better place to invest, work, live and play. Safety is one of our primary focus areas and we have expanded security presence throughout the Village. You may have noticed additional KVBID Security Ambassadors in their bright orange shirts both on foot and on bikes in the Village.
Alii Drive Shoulder Expansion to Begin

The Hawaii County Public Works project to widen the mauka shoulder of Alii Drive to a consistent 5 feet between the Kona Islander Inn and the Kona Alii Condominium is designed to improve pedestrian safety. The project will remove existing low walls and vegetation and replace them with a new mortared lava rock wall at the mauka edge of the shoulder. All coconut trees fronting the Islander Inn will remain with ornamental palm trees fronting Kona Alii replanted.

Construction will begin soon and will close one traffic lane during daytime construction hours. Construction expected to last 3 months. Some short term pain for long term gain.
Kokua Kailua

Are you looking for an opportunity to support local merchants? Kokua Kailua is the perfect venue to stroll Alii Drive and buy local. Kokua Kailua returns this Sunday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm when Historic Kailua Village becomes a festive, pedestrian-only outdoor marketplace. Leashed dogs are welcome too! Expect a fun family day atmosphere with great shopping, entertainment and delicious munchies.
