Voices in Unity
September 2017

News from our Unity Board of Trustees President, Carol Craig

Wow, it's been six months that we at Unity have been working with Rev. Phil in preparation for employing a minister. Over 40 Unity members and friends have participated in the many workshops led by Rev. Phil. Our goal was to better appreciate 'who we are without a minister' - what strengths and challenges we embrace and what future hopes we hold.

At our last workshop, we transformed Unity Christ Center's vision, mission and core values to reflect who we are as a collective ministry and what we are called to do into the future. Starting this month we will be stating the new vision and mission statements during our weekly service. Additionally, Howie Nelsen will be organizing activities and spiritual growth opportunities focusing on 'putting action into our core values.' Here they are...

Vision Statement: "Centered in Divine Love, we           co-create an enlightened world of harmony and love."
Mission Statement: "We are a vibrant spiritual community, embracing the Oneness of all, radiating peace, love, joy and abundance.
Core Values: "Accepting - Loving - Oneness - Spiritual Growth - Prayer"

One of the last steps in the process of selecting a minister is sending an informational packet to Unity World Wide Ministry describing Unity Christ Center - its members, its facilities, its vision for a ministry, and the like. Your help is needed on this; soon you'll be getting a survey that will assist us with including your thoughts and expectations for the 'right and perfect minister.' Please complete it and return by September 17th.

We keep you in our hearts and minds as we patiently take this journey; please keep us in your prayerful hearts also! Thank you - for many, many reasons.

David Frank (Henry Ian Cusick) is a mess and his spirit shattered by the death of his wife.  While away on a trip, a tornado threatens to destroy his house and beloved dog, Brutus. David races home in a effort to save Brutus, but is stopped by the police and watches helplessly as the funnel of destruction sucks up the house and dog. Then, the insurance company tells him they won't pay because the damage falls under the 'Act of God' clause in his policy. David gets the bright idea to sue God Himself for damages, naming representatives of all different faiths as co-defendants. What starts out as a crazy, radical stunt ultimately becomes a very deep and soulful journey.  Popcorn, of course, will be serviced.  Donation accepted.
