Pleasantdale 107 Believes Children Learn Best When...#4
Belief #4: Students receive effective feedback that fuels their natural desire to do better in a try, fail, and try again, growth mindset environment.
A Message from Mrs. Knapik - Assistant Principal of PMS
If At First You Don't Succeed...
We have all heard the adage, "If at first you don't succeed, try try again." Well, the more I read about Carol Dweck's research on Growth Mindset and Angela Duckworth's research on grit, the more I think the phrase needs to be tweaked. Something along the lines of, "If at first you don't succeed, get feedback, try something different, repeat as necessary." This coincides well with the fourth belief statement that guides our District 107
strategic blueprint.
In today's fast-paced/instant gratification world it is often important to slow down and take stock in what is truly important. As a school we have a focus on developing our students into individuals with a Growth Mindset. Those with a Growth Mindset believe that setbacks and mistakes are opportunities to learn. Additionally, Growth Mindset focuses on the process one takes to complete a project not just the product or outcome.
Our school is proud to, once again, partner with our township schools and the Parent Community Network to bring another amazing speaker to our area. Janna Peskett will address Parents on October 17th at 7:00-9:00 pm in the Reber Center at Lyons Township High School North Campus.
