Hurricane Harvey Flooding
Give from the heart . . .

The images of the catastrophic floods along the Gulf Coast, especially in Texas, have been heart breaking. We have seen streets, neighborhoods, and, in some cases, towns, covered by water. People are still being evacuated, and the flood waters have not receded. Every aspect of the greater Houston area has been impacted.

Now is the time for us to reach out to our brothers and sisters in need. On Sunday we will be collecting a special love offering that will go directly to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The best gift we can give in this moment is financial assistance because it allows relief effort teams to purchase much needed supplies. After the flooding in South Carolina the past two Octobers, we discovered that many of the material donations received were not beneficial to people, and we were left looking for funding to help people rebuild their homes and lives, especially the underprivileged and poor.

On Sunday, we invite you to give from the heart. Think of something you can sacrifice - like a month's worth of Starbucks, maybe a night out at the movies, or the new iPhone you were waiting to buy - in order to give generously to our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ!

Once the waters recede and the damage assessment begins, we as a church will determine the next steps in helping our fellow Americans rebuild!

Growth Groups

In worship last Sunday, there was a special survey in the bulletin. The leadership of Belin Memorial is seeking ways for everyone to find connection and places to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ. From our time of discussion, reflection, and prayer, we have concluded that small groups provide a wonderful opportunity to deepen relationships with God and with one another. Because small groups provide a place for people to open up and feel comfortable sharing, life transformation happens.

At Belin Memorial we are in the process of launching Growth Groups, which are small groups consisting of about 10-14 people meeting regularly. We want your input on how these small groups can be the most beneficial to you. Please take this on-line survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/BelinGrowthGroups. On average, the survey takes 2 minutes and 41 seconds to complete. Or if you would like, you can complete a survey card at church on Sunday.

Thank you for your help in launching this formative ministry!

Belin Backpack Mission

Grab a Green Sack this Sunday

Belin's Backpack Mission is gearing up for another school year. We will begin
distributing food to needy children and their families in our local school districts the week of September 11.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS . . .

1. Grab a green Sack Hunger bag from the sanctuary or the Family Life Center.
2. Purchase items on the card inside the green sack.
3. Return the green sack to the Family Life Center or sanctuary.

It's easy to participate! We will be sending food items home weekly to almost 200 children from Waccamaw, St. James, and Socastee area schools so that they have food to eat over the weekend. God bless you!

2018 Blessing of the Inlet t-shirt designs, concepts, pictures, and ideas are needed for next year's BOI t-shirt.

You do not have to be an artist to make a contribution! We have a graphic artist who will help create the final design. The theme for 2018 is "Love God - Love Others," based on Ephesians 4:32.

Send submissions to [email protected] or to [email protected] by October 1, 2017. The Blessing of the Inlet Team will review all ideas and select one for next year's t-shirt.

Be creative - let's hear from you!
