Trailer Voyage
With apologies to both Willy Nelson and the Beach Boys, on September 10  the Wainwright Museum Trailer will be on the road again as we depart home port, Rock Hill, SC  for our next trip to Indiana which is where we want to go, way down in Kokomo.

We'll spend a couple of days in the Dayton area to tour the National Museum of the Air Force, arriving the evening of the 10th, touring the museum on the 11th and 12th  and then head up the road to Kokomo on the 13th.   If you're in the Dayton area, please give us a shout out so we can hook up and visit.
We are not sure exactly where the organizers of the event are going to position the trailer but no matter where, it'll be hard to miss us.
Several shipmates are also attending and they will be at the VVA 73 (campsite 469W) and WWT (472W) locations.

We'll be there through the 17th and depart on the 18th.

Veteran's Day Parade Update
We will be participating in the Columbia, SC parade on November 10th and the Charlotte, NC parade on the 11th.

We chose to not attend the Charleston, SC parade as it is also on the 11th.  We took into consideration parade length, number of participants in the parade, the number of people along the parade route and the distance from the trailers home in Rock Hill, SC to the parades.

The Columbia parade starts at 10:50 at the Laurel and Sumter Street intersection and runs south on Sumter Street to Gervais Street.
Columbia's Veterans Day Parade honors all veterans with a procession of high school marching bands, floats, military vehicles and equipment, military marching bands and a fly-over.

The Charlotte parade will start at 11:00 on N. Tryon Street and, as in years past, will include marching bands, military groups and an assortment of vehicles, both military and historical.

If you plan to attend or need more information please contact [email protected] .

Off Year Meeting

Article III, Section 6 of the Association by-laws requires that the board of directors hold at least one regular meeting each year.   In the recent past, it has become the practice to hold that meeting in the location of the next biennial reunion.

Accordingly, the board will meet at 1300 hours on October 26, 2017 in the Bull Shoals Room at the Branson Radisson Hotel, 120 South Wildwood Drive. Branson, MO.

Any member of the association is welcome to attend and witness the proceedings.   Minutes of the meeting will be posted to the website shortly afterwards.

Trailer Donations
The USS Wainwright Veterans Association is a 501(c) 3 non-profit association of men who served aboard any of the three USS Wainwright ships. Our association exists to keep alive the memory of all vessels named Wainwright. With our mobile museum we educate the public about what our sailors have accomplished, and or completed while onboard any of the ship's named Wainwright. This mobile museum also promotes the United States Navy and Americanism, but we cannot do this without your support. We need your donations to support cost of operating this one of a kind teaching tool. Your donations are 100% tax deductible so please be generous and help us keep our museum going. Donations can be made on our web site http://www.usswainwright.org/donate/
