SPLOST MAKES CENTS!  WATCH YOUR PENNIES CONTINUE TO GROW...

SPLOST VOTING DATE November 7, 2017

We are looking for citizens to serve on a SPLOST committee.

Please contact the Chamber of Commerce office if you are willing to help promote the continuation of SPLOST in our community.

A special-purpose local-option sales tax (SPLOST) is a financing method for funding capital outlay projects in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is an optional 1% sales tax levied by any county for the purpose of funding the building of parks, schools, roads, and other public facilities.

We go to the polls on November 7th to vote about SPLOST. The 2017 SPLOST referendum continues the one penny sales tax. Our Jasper County sales tax rate would remain 7%. Be sure to vote...

HURRICANE IRMA...
The Visitors' Center was very busy on Thursday, September 7th with Irma evacuees coming through town.  On Friday, town was gridlocked with traffic all day.  The evacuees that stopped needed a refreshment or lunch break and directions.

On Saturday, we were open for the Market on the Square and the Visitors' Center was very busy.   We stayed open the entire day serving over 100 visitors...! (helped find room reservations, provided restroom breaks, handed out peanuts, fried pies donated by Howard farm, water, etc)  The Monticello Motel and Reese Hall Gardens & Kitchen were also booked.

So many people reached out to those who lost power or had fallen trees, etc.  What  a wonderful and caring community we have....!!!
