Our Ballard
A1 THERE IS A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING

Why is Ballard the best neighborhood in Seattle? Answer: the people. (Yes, our restaurants and breweries are a close second!) Our corner of Seattle is comprised of passionate, hardworking, professional, caring and occasionally salty characters. The Ballard Alliance wants to honor the people in the community that deserve special recognition for their contribution to the neighborhood.

In its first year, the Ballard Alliance Community Champion Award will help us celebrate the people of our neighborhood that are creating a lasting legacy through their hard work and dedication.

The Ballard Community Champion is the person(s) who has done the most to exemplify the mission of the Ballard Alliance by helping to build a stronger community and ensuring that the Ballard neighborhood remains vibrant, unique and economically vital for its visitors, residents, businesses and property owners.

Does the aforementioned description remind you of someone you know? Please consider nominating the person you have in mind by filling out our brief submission form. We will present the award at our annual Holiday dinner on December 7th.

WHITE LOT US SALON

What is your favorite aspect of owning a business in Ballard?
Knowing the fact that Ballard neighborhood is an unique spot of Seattle is a great opportunity for most of the businesses. Ballard has its own characters and festivals which brings many visitors all year round. Also, the Ballard community is wonderful in that the residents support small businesses.

What makes White Lotus Salon unique?
White   Lotus  Salon is designed by listening to customer needs and our technicians are well trained to serve at their best. We always update the services with blooming fashion trends to bring in new styles from the nail care industry. We offer a private room for special occasions/events.

What do we want people to know about our business?
White   Lotus  provides nail care services ranging from natural nails, gel nails to acrylic nails with designs found on Pinterest. We also offer waxing and eyelash extension services.

What is our favorite place or thing to do in Ballard?
I love eating around Ballard. There are so many restaurants that have delicious dishes (Stoneburner is my spot). Exploring all the shops on Ballard Ave is like hunting precious treasures, like my neighbors Indigo Frock, Horse Shoes, Market Street shoes and the Sunday Farmers Market is a great spot for everything.

FUN FACT FOTO
Long before it became the famous home of the Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch vessels, the Ballard Fishermen's Terminal was called Port of Seattle's Fishermen's Headquarters, Salmon Bay. This photo was taken in 1914 the day of its inauguration (courtesy of MOHAI), and is evidence the Terminal has come a long way in over one hundred years serving the fishing and local boating community.

HALLOWEEN IN BALLARD

Bring the kiddos 12 and younger to Ballard for Halloween. Ballard businesses along NW Market Street and Ballard Ave NW generously hand out treats to your favorite little goblin from their storefronts. Pop in to one of our restaurants afterward and refuel and refresh after making the rounds through Ballard on October. If you are a Ballard business owner and would like to hang one of the posters and let everyone know you are participating, please contact Devin Reynolds at 206-784-9705 ext 3.

THIS IS ALWAYS A REALLY FUN EVENT WITH A LOT OF NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES!

E  BALLARD WILL BECOME MORE MERRY AND BRIGHT

You may have noticed crews installing holiday lights in the trees within sections of the BIA. Perhaps you even caught a sneak peak of how beautiful they will look when they are illuminated. The Ballard Alliance is working with our lighting vendor to create a wonderful display of lights this holiday season.

We are excited to light up Ballard in late November! Please be aware that during the installation, there will be a number of parking spaces that will be cordoned off in the evenings. The crews will work as quickly and safely as possible and appreciate your patience and understanding.
