HAPPENING IN HILLSBORO

Hillsboro's annual volunteer event, HillsDOer Day, is taking place on Saturday, Oct. 7, at locations around Hillsboro. Check out the list of available projects on the City's website and sign up to help out. If you'd rather gather some friends and neighbors to spruce up your neighborhood school, contact your principal and make arrangements. Let's demonstrate how proud we are of our community!

September is Attendance Awareness and Preparedness Month

With school starting as well as recent natural disasters of hurricanes and flooding, it's quite appropriate that September is both Attendance Awareness Month and Preparedness Month. Check out Get Schooled's attendance calculator to find out how absences affect your child's education, and also Ready.gov to learn more about how you and your family can prepare for the unexpected.

Vision Screening
Starting in September, the District will conduct vision screenings for students in grades K, 1, 3 and 5, in partnership with the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation.

Tualatin Soil and Water Photo Contest
The Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District is holding a photo contest to select four photos that will be reprinted and hung in their new office. Submission deadline is 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30. Winners will receive a $50 Visa gift card.
