Breathe into me, Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Move in me, Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Attract my heart, Holy Spirit, that I may love only what is holy. Strengthen me, Holy Spirit, that I may defend all that is holy. Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I may always be holy.

REVISED O'Hara Student Cell Phone Policy
Please note: O'Hara's student cell phone policy has been revised. Read below for the revised policy.

Student cell phones must be in student backpacks or lockers, turned off, during the school day. Cell phones are not permitted to be carried in pockets. They are not permitted to be used at break, lunch, recess or any other time during the school day. This policy applies from the time a student enters our building in the morning until pickup is completed for the day (approx. 2:45 on Wednesdays or 3:15 M,T,Th & F).

If a student wishes to use their cell phone after school to communicate with a parent about after-school pickup instructions, they must get adult permission, and do so in the school lobby.

In addition, no cell phones or personal devices are permitted at school evening events (Christmas program, Spring Program, etc.).
JEANS DAY FUNDRAISER
Our hearts & prayers are with all those affected by Hurricanes Harvey & Irma. Many of us are asking the same question: "How can I help?"

O'Hara, in conjunction with the National Catholic Educational Association ( NCEA) is answering this question by taking part in a campaign asking every Catholic school family around the country to contribute at least $1 per student to help Catholic schools impacted by the storm to rebuild, reopen and re-enroll students. "Student to Student: A Catholic School Response for Hurricane Relief 2017" is a powerful opportunity to engage students in living the Gospel message of compassionate service to others.

At O'Hara, we will hold a Jeans Day Fundraiser on Friday, September 22, to raise money for this campaign. Students that bring at least $1 to school on that day can wear jeans with their uniform top. Donations should be sent with each student and turned into homeroom teachers on Friday, Sept. 22.

We invite O'Hara students to help us reach out to the thousands of Catholic school children who need our support by participating in our Jeans Day!

*Please note: this is a Jeans Day, not a free dress day. Blue jeans only, no rips tears or holes. No jeggings. Boots are permitted.*
Middle School Snack Cart
The healthy snack cart for grades 6-8 begins on Monday, Sept. 18. Snack cart is available for Middle School students only to purchase items during morning break. Prices of items range from 50 cents to $1.50, with fresh baked goods on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Choir begins on Monday
Choir begins tomorrow morning; students should report to the music room at 7:30am. If you've signed your student up for choir, please look for an email from Mrs. Leonard with more details. If you have questions, please contact   Mrs. Leonard.

Pizza Days are Back!
O'Hara's Student Council will be hosting Pizza Days again this year, each month on our Gospel Theme T-Shirt days! (Our regular hot lunch service will take a break on these days.) Pizza will be $1 per slice and drinks are also $1 each. The first Pizza Day will be on Thursday, October 5.

Students who have purchased the annual lunch plan will receive 2 slices of pizza and a drink. Extra slices are available to purchase at $1/slice.
Lost & Found
Please remember to label coats, lunch pails, water bottles, etc. with a student name so we can be sure they get returned to them if lost. Our lost and found becomes full very quickly.
2016-17 Yearbooks
Yearbooks for the 2016-17 school year will be sent home in Parent Folders this week. If you didn't order one, there are a limited number available for purchase in the front office. They are $22 each.
Box Top Collection at O'Hara
Do you have any Box Tops?? Just a reminder that if you have any box tops at home, please bring them in to the front office ASAP! They will need to be counted and turned in by November 1st, so please look around the house and bring in any that you can find. Also, keep collecting all year. They do expire, so don't hold on to them for too long! Bring them in to the school so they can still be redeemed for cash. They are a great way to earn money for O'Hara. Check out this link for a complete list of products that carry box tops, and any other information that you may need.   THANK YOU!!

HOT LUNCH
HOT LUNCH INFO & LINKS
Thank you to our families who have signed up for our Hot Lunch Program - we are grateful for your support! We encourage families that have not tried the program to give it a try - our students are giving the meals two thumbs up!
As an incentive to encourage lunch program participation, the class that purchases the most hot lunches next week (M-F) will receive a healthy treat on Friday, Sept. 22!

The new, healthy lunch program, with a kid-friendly menu is made with organic, locally-sourced ingredients. Thank you to O'Hara parent Shanna Hutton, and our Kitchen Manager, Tracy Whalen, for their hard work and dedication in bringing this program to our school!

Volunteers are still needed to help in the kitchen, please contact Tracy if you can help.  We are looking for 2 volunteers daily, from 9am to 1pm, and any help is very appreciated. Volunteering in the kitchen counts toward your family FIP hours requirement.

Remember, in order to maintain our lunch program, we need to serve an average of 135 lunches per day.

LUNCH FAQs
What is the deadline for weekly orders to receive the 5% discount?   In order to receive the discount, orders must be placed 7 days ahead of time. (For example, an order for Monday the 18th must be placed by Monday the 11th)

How do I place a same-day order? What is the deadline?  Same day orders should be placed online, by  9am .

What if my student forgets their lunch?  Students that have forgotten a lunch can let their teacher know and they will be added to the hot lunch count.

Does the annual plan include a daily milk?  The annual pricing does not include milk, annual cost for milk is $58.00 or 50 cents each day. Purchasing milk is done through the online ordering system at the daily rate. If you would like to purchase milk for the year, please notify  Tracy Whalen . (Checks for payment are accepted and Tracy can add the online milk to your account.)

How are families asked to communicate their hot lunch option to the teachers?  At this time we ask that all students, both daily orders and annual orders, let their teacher know when asked in the morning if they are having hot lunch, milk or both, to ensure we prepare enough food to feed everyone.  (this may change in the future to a different system, but this is the procedure for now.)

I signed my student up for the annual plan, do I still need to make meal selections for each day?  If your student would like the hot lunch, there is nothing more to do. If your student would like the Gluten-free, Dairy-free, and Vegetarian option, then that option must be selected in the online ordering system at least 2 weeks prior to the meal date.
