Power Restoration:
As of 3PM this afternoon, FPL has restored power to 26,380 Miami Gardens customers. 11,120 Miami Gardens customers remain without power.  FPL estimates to have essentially all of their customers along the East Coast restored by the end of this coming weekend, with the possible exception of areas impacted by tornadoes, severe flooding and other sections of severe damage.   Read the latest press release from FPL here.


Community Partner Updates:
  • Florida Memorial University will reopen on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 8AM.
  • Miami-Dade County Public Schools are aiming to reopen on Monday, September 18, 2017. Further communication will be provided today. Visit storms.dadeschools.net for updates.
  • The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works has started debris removal in the City of Miami Gardens with their in-house crews. 114 crews are clearing debris in the County. 245 Township Range Sections (TRS) have been assigned and 100 TRS are complete. On Monday, September 18, 2017, the County will have contractors assisting with the debris removal.
  • 74% of the 2,776 traffic signals in Miami-Dade County are operable.
  • The Florida Department of Health, after a satisfactory water quality test result, is partially lifting the precautionary swimming advisory that was issued on September 11, 2017 for all public beaches in Miami-Dade County. The precautionary swimming advisory is still in effect for:
    • Oleta State Park
    • Key Biscayne Beach Club
    • Cape Florida State Park

Trolley Service Resumes:
The Miami Gardens Express Trolley is back in service. 

City Hall Modified Hours of Operation:
City Hall hours of operation will be Monday through Thursday, from 7:30AM - 4:00PM until further notice. City Hall is closed on Fridays.

Parks and Recreation Department Closures Notification:
All parks (indoor and outdoor areas) remain closed until further notice. This includes all afterschool, fall session, and youth sports programming.

Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex (indoor and outdoor areas) remains closed until further notice. This includes all afterschool, fall session, and youth sports programming.
