Twenty Named National Merit Semifinalists For 2017  

Twenty Allen High School students have been named semifinalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Competition.  These students are among the top one percent of the highest scoring entrants on the PSAT out of more than 1.6 million students nationwide.

The AHS semifinalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program are:  Joe Alappat,  Rahul Anand,  James Ardoin,  Victoria Catlett,  Raghav Chawla,  Catherine Chen,  Tong Chen,  Samantha Cheng,  Danica Corbita,  Sahithi Golkonda,  Miguel Gomez-Garcia,  Kylie Hoyt,  Ryan King,  Christopher Li,  Mary Li,  John O'Brien,  Claire Pedison,  Parker Primrose,  Chase Taylor and  Anurag Vempati.
Community Donates $29K To Katy Supplies Drive
The Allen community stepped forward to help Hurricane Harvey victims with a school supply drive for students in Katy ISD.  Allen families donated $29,932 towards purchasing school supply packs, helping Katy ISD provide 2,695 complete sets of supplies for students impacted by the hurricane.  That's the Allen Way!

In addition to the Katy supply drive, schools conducted various fundraising and collection projects to help hurricane victims.  Among those was Ford Middle School, who chipped in to help O'Connor Elementary School in Victoria (pictured below).
Thursday Is Giving Day
Make a donation to the Foundation during North Texas Giving Day! This online giving event encourages people in  Allen, across Texas, and the  country to come together to raise as much money as possible for North Texas nonprofits in one day. 

Help the Foundation raise $40,000 for the students and teachers in Allen ISD by making a donation on September 14. On this day, the Foundation For Allen Schools receives a significant portion of their annual funding. Donations received will fund innovative classroom projects in Allen ISD, scholarships for Allen High School graduates, and training and recognition for Allen ISD teachers and staff. Coach G Logs 700th Win
Lady Eagles Volleyball Coach Kelley Gregoriew logged her 700th career victory on August 12 in the Northwest ISD Tournament.  Coach G as she is called by her players, teaches algebra and has been coaching at Allen High School since 1993.  Her Allen career record heading into the season was 658-240.  The team is currently holding a 23-3 record for the season.
Preston Elementary School Dedication Set For Sept 24

Allen ISD will hold a dedication ceremony for the new Jenny Preston Elementary School on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The program will be followed by a reception in the cafeteria. The public is invited to attend the program. 

The school is named after former Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jenny Preston, opened on Aug. 21 at 2455 Hilliard Dr. in Allen.  
Alumni Events Planned for 2017 Homecoming Game
Alumni Tailgate Party
Allen ISD will host two homecoming events for alumni at the September 29 Allen High School football game.  The events include a pre-game dinner catered by Dickey's BBQ on the end-zone plazas at Eagle Stadium followed by the Allen Eagles vs McKinney Boyd varsity football game. Cost is $20 for dinner and a general admission game ticket. More information can be found on the Community Services site.

Allen High School 2017 Homecoming Activities
The 2017 Allen High School Homecoming Queen and King will be crowned Friday night before the Eagles take on McKinney Boyd at 7:30 p.m. in Eagle Stadium. The day begins with the Homecoming Pep Rally at 8:30 a.m.  The annual Homecoming Dance is set for Saturday night in the AHS cafeteria culminating a week of activities. The semi-formal affair begins at 8 and wraps up at 11. Tickets at the door are $25.
Allen ISD Is Hiring!

Are you looking for a job where you can help make an impact on student success every day? 

If so, consider joining Allen ISD, a district that has twice been named one of the Top 100 Places to Work by the Dallas Morning News. Allen ISD is currently looking to fill positions in food service, transportation, after-school programs, and substitutes at all levels.

The Student Nutrition Department is looking for food service workers at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. The Transportation Department is searching for candidates to fill bus driver and crossing guard positions. Click here to view the openings, then click "Classified." The Allen ISD Kids Club is hiring staff members for the Kids Club After-School program. The program serves children ages 5-12, and the work hours fit perfectly with a college schedule. Applicants must be 18 or older and possess a high school diploma. Visit the Kids Club webpage for more information.

Allen ISD is searching for substitutes for teacher or paraprofessional positions throughout the district, and the district recently increased the pay rates for substitutes this school year. Click here for more information about substitute positions.

Parents and families are invited to a Community Pep Rally on September 25 at Eagle Stadium from 6 - 8:00 p.m.  The event will include opportunities to meet members of Eagles sports teams.  It will also include games and food trucks.  Join us for a fun evening celebrating everything Eagle.
AHS College Night Set For Tonight - Sept 13 

 

Allen High School will host its annual College Night on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m. More than 180 representatives from a wide range of colleges, universities, technical schools and armed forces branches from across the nation will be available to meet with students and parents. For more information, please contact the AHS College and Career Center at 469-319-6412.

Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler

Get ready to let the good times roll and help the Foundation For Allen Schools celebrate its 20th anniversary at the October 21st Cajun Nights Benefit at the Sheraton Hotel in McKinney. This jazzy evening includes a VIP cocktail hour, creole cuisine, live band, live and silent auction, and more!  All proceeds from Cajun Nights directly support students and teachers in Allen ISD through the Foundation grant program and scholarship awards.

The live and silent auction will offer items and experiences that are exclusive for Cajun Nights. Revelers will have the chance to sponsor scholarships and help fund classroom grants as well as bid on some very unique experiences and items. Local businesses can contribute items for the auction by contacting the Foundation at 972-727-0362.
