Welcome Greg Salmon

The City of Marion's Business Growth and Investment team have recently integrated into the new City Activation Department.  This new department will grow the city's vibrancy and ensure the public realm connects communities and businesses, activates streetscapes, builds a sense of place, supports economic prosperity and contributes to the long term sustainability of the city.

We welcome to the role of Manager City Activation, Greg Salmon. Greg comes to the City of Marion from the City of Playford, where he played a key role in the Northern CBD project leading a $130 million dollar urban renewal project which has involved both public and private funded development. Greg has also held previous roles in the private sector. He has a background in urban design and planning and is passionate about creating sustainable cities which connect communities and create places for people. Welcome Greg!
Exciting new Urban Activation Project!

In August, the City of Marion established the Urban Activation Project. $250,000 is available to support suitable projects which enhance infrastructure and community amenity around local shopping districts within the City of Marion.

We are inviting applications for projects through an Expression of Interest process. Projects must provide infrastructure that supports the activation of places, improves community amenity and attracts markets/events. Examples of projects may include: public art, community art, street furniture, lighting, community gardens, greenways, streetscapes, parklets, smart technology, environmental solutions, graffiti and crime prevention support.

The City of Marion will be visiting local shopping precincts and will be holding a number of briefing sessions. Have an idea for a project? Contact Donna Griffiths on 08 8375 6897 or via email to find our more!
