Dear STM Families,
So much has happened since last week that it is probably difficult for many of us to imagine returning to our regular schedules. While the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey is truly catastrophic, I have no doubt that the STM community will return stronger than ever. I know many faculty, staff, and parents have been working tirelessly to coordinate relief efforts and it has been beautiful to see the outpouring of Christian charity. We have much for which to be thankful.
So, back to business! As you may have read, the Texas Education Association is issuing waivers for the days missed due to the flooding. This is very good news, as we will not have to revise our master calendar. Our teachers will take care to plan the most effective ways to cover all required standards and objectives for each subject area, ensuring that our students will maintain educational momentum.
Although our standard policy is to follow HISD's schedule for inclement weather closings,
STM students will return to school on Wednesday, September 6th. Our teachers will return on Tuesday, September 5th in order to prepare and plan for the students return. We look forward to greeting your child(ren) back to school next week.
All sport games have been cancelled next week. Practices will resume and will be updated by the individual coaches.
Fr. Hai, the faculty and staff and myself continue to pray for our STM community as well as all victims of Hurricane Harvey.
A few things to know:
Have a good weekend.
