The Homestead Neighborhood Association normally meets the First Tuesday of every month, 7pm at the OHSU Child Development and Rehabilitation Center; 707 SW Gaines, Third Floor.

September Meeting

The next Homestead Neighborhood Association's meeting is Tuesday, September 5th f rom 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the OHSU Child Development and Rehabilitation Center, 707 SW Gaines, Third Floor.   Parking is available.

The September agenda will include two separate discussions with OHSU.

1.  Brett Dodson of OHSU is introducing and seeking feedback from the Homestead Membership regarding the  OHSU Transportation Demand Management Project . This project encourages employees to travel by foot, bike and transit instead of car.

2.  The second item will be presented by Tara Mather.  Other OHSU staff and consultants will be present to discuss a critical component of the (Light Rail)  Southwest Connector Project ; the connection from SW Barbur or Naito that will bring pedestrians up the hill to OHSU and VA facilities.  OHSU  seeks input on all modes of transportation in the vicinity of SW Campus Drive. This project is referred to as the  OHSU Gateway and the discussion will include the Terwilliger Boulevard pedestrian crossing under consideration. The conversation will include both scenarios for this crossing, surface and undercrossing.

Please note that Homestead Neighborhood Association is on record as being opposed to an at-grade crossing for this project.

The final agenda will be posted on the Homestead website prior to the meeting. We hope to see you there for these important discussions.

The  Code Reconciliation Project is of particular interest to Homestead neighbors and those living and working on Markham Hill.  The discussion draft is available online at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/bps/article/647563 . Many in homestead have commented on the draft document.

The Homestead Board endorsed the comments made and submitted by Milt Jones, Homestead Land Use Chair.  These comments are in response to a proposed mix of RH and CM2 zoning to replace the CM1 zone and can be found on Homestead's website at http://www.homesteadna.org
