Wildseed is lit up with fire flies, sun shine, aliveness and star light!  We are sending you so much magic and nourishment from this land and are excited to share updates and invitations with you in hope you can come visit soon!

UPDATES

Since we last wrote at the peak of maple tapping season:

  • We collected almost 400 gallons of sap from 40 trees and wood-fire cooked it down to 10 gallons of the sweetest Sweet Freedom Maple Syrup yet!

  • We hosted our biggest gathering to date, the Hudson Valley Young Farmer's Coalition Spring Mixer, with close to 200 people!

  • We discovered a new part of the terrain only accessible by canoe, and found a new nearby swimming hole!

  • We had the opportunity to assess and map the land according to ecological design principles with Appleseed Permaculture

  • We moved a tiny house onto the land!

  • We've had incredible hearts and devoted hands helping out on the land, coming from as far as Oakland and Seattle, and as close as up the road!

  • We hosted FARMroots Beginning Farmer Program, the Hurricane Season Curriculum development team, Kite's Nest & SBK Social Justice Center

  • We spawned our first oyster mushrooms, and harvested our first garlic scapes!

  • We've continued to develop the inner and outer infrastructure to establish Wildseed as a healing sanctuary where people historically disenfranchised from land actively create and experience dignity, self-determination, interdependence, and belonging.

PRISON  FAMILIES NEED A NEW BUS!

The Victory Bus Project is an prison-abolitionist transportation service for incarcerated people and their families. We provide affordable, community-based, door-to-door transportation for families from New York City to visit their loved ones at 16 Hudson Valley prisons. Each ride includes a box of fresh, small-farm produce, which riders can either give in a care package to their loved ones or take home.  Since 2011, when New York State ended the free prison-visit bus system, we have been supporting hundreds of members of our community with affordable rides, farm fresh food, and political engagement.

BUT recently, we lost an essential part of our project: a reliable vehicle.

We are relying on our community's support to fix the vehicles we have and acquire a new van so we can continue to keep families connected and fight for a world free from prisons.

WILDSEED  is a Black and Brown-led, feminine-centered, queer-loving, earth-based intentional community, organic farm, and political and creative home. We are dedicated to ecologically stewarding 181 acres as a permanent healing sanctuary where people historically disenfranchised from land actively create and experience dignity, self-determination, interdependence, radical artistry, liberatory economics and transformative justice.
