Greetings from Michael Krentz, ALCM Secretary/Treasurer
Many of us will be resuming more "regular" activities now that September has arrived. As I begin a term as Secretary/Treasurer, I invite you to reflect with me on the treasures we have been given.
What treasures have we received? I would name first the good news of Jesus Christ: that God loves us not because of anything we've done or because of who we are; God loves us because of who God is, One who loves without our earning it.
Second, we have the treasure of the Church. To be sure, many of us have been hurt or disappointed by particular expressions of the Church. But that does not take away the fact that the Church is a treasure, because in the Church we proclaim and hear the Word, and we celebrate and receive the Sacraments.
Then, we have the treasure of the Church's song. Yes, we have differences of opinion on musical styles, and particular likes and dislikes. But this does not take away the fact that we have inherited a treasury of song. We use that treasury to proclaim Jesus Christ, to accompany the Sacraments, and to comfort people. And some of us are always adding to the treasury.
Fourth, we have the treasure of people. Yes, not everyone we meet is pleasant, or treats us fairly or well. But our assemblies are full of people who love and serve God, who sing the songs we put in front of them, and who strive for justice and peace.
Finally, for us particularly, we have the treasure of ALCM. Like the other treasures I have named, this one needs to be guarded, stewarded, and shared. In a few weeks you will receive an invitation to support ALCM with a gift of some of your financial treasure. I hope you will join me in doing that.
"Guard the good treasure entrusted to you, with the help of the Holy Spirit living in us." (2 Timothy 1:14)

New ALCM Website Coming!
At long last our new website is almost ready to be launched. Watch your inbox for an announcement with instructions for setting up your membership "account" on the site. For those of you who had the unfortunate experience of being unable to successfully re-set your password on the current site, I'm happy to report that the new website fixes that problem.
There are a host of new features and capabilities with the new site. Here are just three of my favorites:
- The design of the site will allow it to be easily viewed on computers, tablets, and phones.
- All issues of CrossAccent from issue number 1 (January 1993) through the current issue are available as downloadable PDFs. Members can download them for free.
- An events module with calendar is included. In addition to posting all of our 2018 and beyond events with direct registration links, members may post information on local events.
A complete list of changes and things to look for will be included in the "launch" email. Stay tuned!

Plans are underway for the 2018 one-day events, with the potential for over 40 events to be held across the U.S. and Canada. If you have communicated with Scott Weidler and are planning to host an event, please contact him by email at

Join the National Lutheran Choir on their tour of the Pacific Northwest!
If you live in Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, or Salem, join the National Lutheran Choir in singing a sacred and spiritual Reformation story. The Choir is sharing two unique programs, each commemorating the 500
th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.
In Seattle and Portland, the Choir leads a community-wide evening of song featuring early hymns to new works. In Tacoma and Salem, the Choir presents Una Sancta, a concert of choral music that brings the historical journey of 500 years of the Reforming church to life.
