Dear Holy Rosary Families,
Our 4th Sunday mass was a beautiful display of community. I had the opportunity to chat with many alumni families and the message is the same: We love Holy Rosary because of the community and the embrace of family. In the spirit of community, we want to pray for our fellow families affected by Hurricane Harvey. We will be adopting Holy Rosary School in Rosenberg, Texas. During our Peace Builder Week, our students will be creating prayer cards, raising funds to directly support the HRS Texas students, and praying together in unity. We encourage your family to join our efforts to provide relief to our partner Texas school.
As Jesus called the disciples into community, we are called to be in communion with one another. We acknowledge that we are part of the whole body of Christ, and all our gifts are essential to building His kingdom on earth.
In Partnership,
Mrs. Fely Fajardo
Interim Principal

Important Update -
Holy Rosary School Grading Policy for 2017-2018
For students in grades 6-7-8, the Diocese of Oakland Schools are moving towards a 100% summative grading system. For students in grades 4-5 the Diocesan schools are moving towards a Standards-Based system, which is a continuum of the existing grading system in our grades K-3
rd. For 2017-2018 Holy Rosary School's grading policy for grades 4-8 will continue to be 90% summative and 10% formative.
For 2018-2019, Holy Rosary School will be working towards implementing the Diocesan Standards-Based system into instructional, grading and reporting practices for grades 4-5 and 100% summative assessments for grades 6-7-8. Summative assessments can be a test, a written or oral report, a project, an experimental procedure or other activity that demonstrates learning. Formative assessments can be practice work, in-class assignments and homework. Formative assessments are a key component of learning, used to provide authentic feedback. Our teachers are engaged in continuing professional development to strengthen the understanding of Standards-Based Systems. Please refer to the Parent Student Handbook for the grading policy.
