This Sunday is Transfiguration Sunday and The Reverend Julie Nelson will preside over the 8:00 am and the 10:00 am services. Julie has supplied for us before and we loved her energy and passion in her sermons. She is a warm and personable person and I look forward to seeing her again.

Transition update : The Rector Search Committee continues to work hard on our church profile and are on target with the timeline. The vestry will be interviewing a candidate for Interim Rector next week at a special vestry meeting. We hope to have another Interim Rector soon.

Please note that the bell choir will resume Wednesday night practices on August 30, 2017. The bell choir can always use more ringers so if you are interested, please talk to Logan Zintsmaster. The bell choir ringers are a fun group of people and welcome new members. You do not have to have any ringing experience and you do not have to be able to read music. You only need to be able to count. The bell choir plays the 3rd Sunday each month at the 10:00 am service. Practices are Wednesday evenings each week.

Voice choir will not resume practices until November. We will sing for Christmas and Easter only this year. Please consider singing with us for Christmas and/or Easter. This would be a short commitment but would really give joy to the congregation and choir. Let me know if you would like to sing with us.

The vestry will have its monthly meeting on August 17, 2017 at 7:00 pm. Congregation members are welcome to come and observe the meeting. If you are interested in observing, please let me know.

Just a reminder that the Golf Tournament is coming up on August 28, 2017. Please mark your calendars. You have the choice of playing golf and coming for the dinner that evening, or if you are not a golfer, like me, or cannot golf that day, you can still come for the fantastic dinner that evening. We always have a lot of fun and the food is tasty and the music is awesome. We can even set up carpools if anyone needs a ride.

Golf Tournament baskets are due at St. Stephens on August 13, 2017 for display. This gives St. Stephen's a chance to buy raffle tickets for their favorite basket (s).   The baskets are a very important part of the Golf Tournament fund raiser. Many congregation members put time, love, and money into creating these baskets and they are phenomenal.

Please keep the vestry and the Rector Search Committee in your prayers. The vestry is working hard to keep St. Stephen's operating smoothly and the Rector Search Committee is working hard to create our church profile.   Please pray that God will guide us all and that we will have open hearts and minds as we make decisions for the church during this transition.

Save the Date: Bishop Mary is leading a Transition Retreat for us on Sept. 15 (Friday evening) and Sept. 16, 2017 at St. Stephen's church. More details to come. Bishop Mary will lead us through reflective discernment as we search for a new priest. Please mark your calendar because it is very important that you attend and participate in the retreat.

Reminders:
Please bring in dry food for the Food Basket for St. Julie's and pocket change for the Food for the Poor Jar.

Please look at the Angel's Board to see if there are any tasks that need to be added or tasks that you want to volunteer to do.

There is one task that urgently needs to be done this weekend. The church will be power washed and painted beginning Monday, July 24, 2017. It will be a week-long project. We need volunteers to take down the canopy over the back patio this weekend. If you are able to help, please let Tom Good or me know.

Also, remember Andy Lief is putting together a list of tasks that need to be done for the Beautification of St. Stephen's Project. Please let him know if you have tasks to add.

Please let Edy know if you are interested in attending the morning course or an evening course, so she knows how many copies to purchase.

You may send an email to [email protected].  Or call the church office at 408-629-1836.
PREPARING THE PARISH HALL FOR OPENING DAY OF PRESCHOOL

In past years, we have hired a cleaning service to do a deep cleaning of the parish hall before the opening day of preschool.  The cost of the service has increased this year, so we are opting to do it ourselves and save $700.

I need volunteers to help me scrub the preschool chairs, and deep clean the restrooms, kitchen, and linoleum floor.

I will be at church on two Mondays,
August 7, and August 14 at 10:00 am

Please let me know if you can help.....  Bring a bucket, cloths, scrub brush, mop -- whatever cleaning tools you have.  We can do this !!

Thank you,
Julie Zintsmaster

LET'S KEEP ST. STEPHEN'S SHINING

PRAY FOR THE RECTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE

Dear Lord, Heavenly Father, we, the people of St. Stephen's ask for your blessings on the members of the Search Committee.  Bless them in their meetings, in their deliberations and in their discernment.  Keep their hearts and minds open to the Holy Spirit and to wherever You will lead them in this process.

Guide them in their deliberations while they prepare the St. Stephen's Profile which will be posted to the National Office of Transitional Ministry (OTM).  Please allow this process to be completed with ease and joy.

We trust you and we know that you will bring us the best possible Rector for St. Stephen's as you have done for us before.  Thank you, Heavenly Father for all your blessings on the Search Committee and this congregation. AMEN

Please pray daily for our Search Committee......
