Dear Students, Parents, Teachers & Friends of Education,

2017 Governor's Honors Program Finalists

Winder-Barrow High students Taylor Gray and Chloe Wise were selected to participate in the 2017 Governor's Honors Program this summer after a rigorous selection process. Out of over 3000 nominees statewide, 667 were selected for the program.

Students spent 4 weeks this summer engaged in study and exploration with the other best and brightest students from across the state. Taylor's content area was communicative arts, and Chloe participated in the area of science.

The Barrow County School System is proud of these students for their accomplishment!

"Collaboration for Innovation" was the theme at the annual Barrow County Back to School "Prep Rally" for the 2017-2018 school year. With sunshine overhead, The Big Yellow Limousines provided transportation to and from the Innovation Amphitheater for faculty and staff. Local officials, dignitaries and guests also joined the fun.

Activities included the Barrow Brigade Presenting the Colors and Pledge. Haley Mitchell, teacher at Winder-Barrow High and Casen Horne, rising 6th grader at Bear Creek Middle and former Yargo Elementary student performed the National Anthem. High energy motivational speaker, Logan Weber gave an entertaining insight to "Overcoming Life's Goliaths".

Russell Middle received Chick-fil-a gift cards for winning the "Be BOLD Contest". Freddy's Frozen Custard provided Bethlehem Elementary treats for having the highest attendance in the 2016-2017 school year.  View special video for the BCSS teachers! Pictures of the Prep Rally!
