AAAAAA Foundation for Traffic Safety Contracts with the UF Occupational Therapy Department


The University of Florida's Institute for Mobility, Activity, and Participation in collaboration with the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, will be providing expert services to revise and compile Smart Features for Older Drivers version 3.

Call for Abstracts!  5th Annual UTC Conference for the Southeastern Region, DEADLINE August 29, 2017

 
The UFTI's STRIDE Center will be hosting this year's University Transportation Centers (UTC) Conference for the Southeastern Region, November 16-17, 2017, at the UF campus. T he conference is FREE and open to faculty, students, practitioners and public agencies in the Southeast. Students who present posters and papers will have the opportunity to compete for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize worth $500, $250 and $100, respectively.

AVSyposiumUFTI Attends 2017 Automated Vehicles Symposium

Members of the UFTI attended 
the  2017  AV  Symposium in San  Francisco, CA. on July 11-13.
Mahmoud Pourmehrab and Patrick Emami presented  their  poster titled "A Demonstration of Fusing DSRC and Radar for Optimizing Intersection Performance," attended presentations, and participated in breakout sessions.

Multidisciplinary Students Present Their Transportation-related Projects

Jerone Dunbar and Brianna Posadas, Ph.D. students in computer and information science engineering under Dr. Juan Gilbert, recently completed multidisciplinary projects focusing on transportation. Dunbar presented his paper at the 19th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction on July 12-14, 2017. Posadas will be presenting her poster at the Transportation Planning Exchange (TransPlex) conference on August 8-10, 2017.

Congratulations to Dr. Lily Elefteriadou for Being Elected President of the Council of University Transportation Centers 

During the Council of University
Transportation  Centers (CUTC)
Summer Meeting in Buffalo, NY,  Dr. Lily Elefteriadou was elected president of the organization. Dr.  Elefteriadou will serve as President for one year, until June 2018.  

CUTC was established in 1979 by several major transportation research centers and institutes in the US to provide a forum for transportation researchers and educators, promote university research, education, workforce development, and technology transfer, and interact collectively with government and industry.

FHWA
UFTI Student Interns with FHWA 

This summer one of the UFTI's Ph.D. students, Deja Jackson, participated in an internship program with the Federal Highway Administration for the second time. Jackson was part of the Office of Safety under the Roadway Safety Data Program's Data and Analysis Team and worked specifically with the Highway Safety Manual (HSM). Jackson also served as a reviewer for the Road Safety Fundamentals textbook developed by the FHWA Office of Safety's Implementation & Evaluation Team.
