- How do I charge for Graphics?
I do wish I could charge by the minute like a lawyer or my accountant and the client would just pay up but I find people are very happy to pay for the physical product and try to find a way around the intangible. So in my business as every job has some design component unless it is very obvious that it is a large component, I bury the graphic design into the total job cost. Takes away a point of argument about "who has done the design", The client is not tempted to dither doing their own design, I get to design the job to suit me and I have established a more profitable price for future repeats that do not have the design component. (Greg, Perth WA. )
- We'll always given them names of other sign shops they could try.
- I have other sign shop colleagues that do some things better than us or specialise in items that we aren't really set up to do properly, so I'll take the job on and either sub contract the job out, or pass the job over entirely and let the other shop deal with it. I only work with shops that have the same attitude though. Usually smaller family businesses who operate the same.
- Always send them to someone who can do it.
- Neither. I quote a price that is sufficient to motivate me to do the job. IT's amazing how many times the client accepts the quote.
- A good profit is a big motivator to do a job, even those I don't like doing.
