Last week's survey results on the question of......
Do you have an associate printer that you trust and can help you out if you break down or have excess work that you can't handle?
Yes. I have several in each state and I trust them to do the right thing as much as they trust me . It pays to work with your colleagues rather than against them. You just never know when you may need their help. (Shane, DSI).
We have always made an effort to build and maintain good relationships with our local sign-makers and it's paid off time and again. We help each out when equipment lets us down or we urgently need material. We also utilise the services of a local installation business when we are on tight schedules. (Anne, Jigsaw Signs + Print)
Yes, they are about 400km away from us and have enough of their own work to be interested in taking any of ours. We have good relations with many other sign shops outside of our area and it is a valuable thing..
We were let down once by such a printer who stole our client but we have great faith that not all printers are thieves, so yes we have built up good relations with some of our peers and they know that we are here to help them if they need a bail out - that is of course as long as we have the capacity to help.
We are new to wide format printing and to date we have not given this much thought, so thanks for the advice, we will look around for one or more printers that can help when we need it.
Good idea and yes we have one company that we can call on to help us out, in fact they are a supplier that does trade work as well. There a few companies out there that specialise in doing trade work exclusively. That is not to say that they can match the quality that we expect and the metalic colours that we produce for one of our clients. It is no good having somebody to bail you out if they are going to destroy your reputation.
