CHAMBER UPDATE
The Big Office Move is Finally Here!

After a great run at our current office on Sterrett Place in downtown Columbia, we are headed to our new office on Old Dobbin Lane! We will be laboring a bit over Labor Day weekend as we finish unpacking at the new space which will put us in a central location close to Columbia Gateway, Howard County's largest business center! While we will open for business on September 5th, we ask that you delay any visits until Monday, September 11th, to allow us time to fully unpack. Our new address will be 6240 Old Dobbin Lane - Suite 110.

  KEEPING YOU IN THE LOOP
Task Force Wants To Know What Your Experience has been with Accessing Business Capital

In meetings earlier this year with Senator Chris Van Hollen and Congressman John Sarbanes, Chamber members and Chamber President Leonardo McClarty made it clear that access to capital was one of the biggest challenges small business owners face.  Now the Maryland General Assembly, along with the Governor's Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs, has formed a task force looking to find out more about the very same challenge.

We encourage our small business members to take a few minutes and participate in the confidential survey created by the task force. The survey is available until August 15, 2017.

  CHAMBER MEMBER NEWS
Chamber Helps Get Exposure for Main Street Member Businesses

This past weekend marked the one-year-anniversary of the devastating flood that swept through Old Ellicott City. Chamber staff worked with our member businesses on Main Street to make sure the media focused on all the hard work they have done over the past year and all that they have been through. Both the Baltimore Sun and WJZ - CBS 13 in Baltimore committed to interviews with members. A link to the Baltimore Sun's story is below and WJZ will be airing interviews some time this week. We will add a link to those stories once they have aired.

We are proud of all of our amazing member businesses on Main Street, including those that have not been able to return to their Main Street locations yet. We are so impressed with how LaPalapa Grill & Cantina, Pure Wine Cafe, Pam Long Photography, The Massage Boutique, A La Mode Boutique, HorseSpirit Arts Gallery, Fishbein & Fishbein, PA and Park Ridge Trading Co. have handled all the challenges of the past year.
