Solar Eclipse Inspires Energy Conservation
Mark your calendars! On Monday, August 21, the first total solar eclipse visible in the U.S. since 1979 will temporarily darken skies. In California, the eclipse will reduce solar energy supply for more than two hours. The California Public Utilities Commission is asking for help in conserving energy between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on August 21. Here are some simple ways to save energy.
- Avoid using air conditioning or turn up thermostats.
- Switch lightbulbs to energy-efficient LED bulbs.
- Turn off lights and power strips.
- Avoid charging EVs between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
