Lupe Valdez '79, joined the Union Pacific as the Director of Public Affairs in July of 2005. She Serves the Los Angeles Basin. Her responsibilities include working with local elected officials and community groups in Southern California.

Lupe currently serves as Co-Chair of the Transportation & Goods Movement Committee of the Los Angeles Chamber; serves as the Co-Chair of the Energy & Environment Committee of BIZFED, Board Member of the City of Commerce Industrial Council and is a member of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership and is now a Board Member of the CA Transportation Foundation. 

Pilar Gutierrez Buelna '87, has extensive experience in the non-profit sector and currently serves as Divisional Director os Social Services for The Salvation Army of Southern California. There she provides leadership and direction to residential and contracted programs. Services under her purview include childcare and youth centers, emergency housing for families, transitional housing for veterans, permanent housing for families living with AIDS, mental health services, as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Prior to her work at The Salvation Army she worked in the education non-profit sector as the Director of the Parent Information & Resource Center at Families In Schools, with a focus on increasing student achievement through parental involvement.

Pilar currently is part of the Sacred Heart High School Consultative School Board. Her oldest daughter is an alumna while her two younger daughters are current students. She also serves as an advisory board member for the Azusa Pacific University Department of Social Work. Mayor Eric Garcetti appointed her (in 2013) to El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument Authority and (in 2016) to the Cultural Heritage Commission.

In 2006, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim began an effort which would allow them to transcend the realm of baseball into the field of community service. The values of perseverance, compassion, and above all, the unmitigated power of education continue to flourish through the Angels' college scholarship foundation. They began awarding partial and full scholarships to students in Orange County enrolled in grades 6-12 who embodied these values while demonstrating exemplary academic achievements. In 2016, Sacred Heart High School became a part of this incredible opportunity.

In 2017 six members of the Sacred Heart High School graduating class were nominated for a four-year scholarship to the college of their choice. After the nomination process, Alexis Huerta and Cynthia Romero were chosen to submit an application which, along with a few personal essays, compiled all of their efforts throughout high school including grades, GPA, community service, recommendations, clubs, and other school-wide activities. Once these were reviewed they were notified that both had successfully made it to the interview stage. After completing the final interview with the owner of the Angels, Arte Moreno, Cynthia and Alexis received news that they were awarded a full scholarship to the university of their choice.

Upon our arrival, we were introduced to new ways to share our faith through preaching. We were taught valuable life lessons while also meeting other students, putting faith into action and having fun! Every morning all 150 students from Dominican schools across the country, including Puerto Rico and Australia gathered together to pray and then progressed to daily activities. In these activities, we explored the significance and meaning of the Word in our lives, by actively reading and analyzing Bible passages. Creative forms of prayer, such as making mandalas, tai-chi, paper folding, and crocheting mats for the homeless, were introduced to us, so that we may take back our new talents to our schools.
