+ nativity youth

Here's to living generously!

On Tuesday night, Nativity's youth went on a shopping trip at Aldi with our Thrivent Action Grant.  The three teams (seven total youth) each had their own strategy and priorities, and these varied approaches will serve our clients well. Pastor Rachel used the remaining balance to buy diapers and other staples at Wal-Mart as the youth supported a bulk purchase of diapers.
These supplies will be delivered to Calvary Food Pantry this week, to be distributed to those in need. Several of the Youth will be there to serve Saturday morning, August 5.
Charlotte, McKenna, Alie and Pastor Rachel filling their cart with some favorite items!
Meredith and Danielle calculating prices aiming to stay within budget.
Pastor Gregg, Luke and Graham feeling quite proud of their spending habits.

Thanks to Pastors Rachel and Gregg for their support and leadership and to Heather Neal who serves as Nativity's Liaison for the Calvary Food Pantry.

As you know, VBS 2017 Maker Fun Factory here at Nativity was a huge success! Nativity Preschool and Kindergarten students enjoyed coming back for a week during their summer break from NPK.  The students learned about how we are created by God and built for a purpose. 25 preschoolers spent the week crafting, playing, imagining, and discovering more about themselves, one another, and their faith. Thank you Pastor Rachel and all the volunteers!  Another week of "Making Christ Known" here at Nativity!

____________________________

The  N ativity women's group  invites all interested women to their gathering on  Thursday, August 10, at 11:00am
in the fellowship hall. We continue our study of the Gospel of John and share fellowship over lunch (bring your own bag lunch). The invitation is open to you as often as you are free to attend.

The  Nativity Card Ministry will meet on
Thursday, August 10, at 12:30pm in the fellowship hall. This group is open to all who can cut, paste, and/or fold. The group makes cards for our shut-ins and those on the prayer list. Creativity is not a requirement, so come and have some fun helping us to care for our members.

The  Ladies Lunch Bunch will meet
Thursday, August 24, at 1:00pm. Our hostess is Peggy Oehm and details will come soon.
Did you know that Nativity has an electronic giving option?

We contract with Vanco, an e-giving company endorsed by the ELCA, to provide an easy option for your offering.

Vanco allows you to set up auto-payments, so you never have to worry about sending in your offering when you're on vacation or forgetting your checkbook.

Auto-payments also help us keep our ministries running steadily here at Nativity.

Like putting something in the offering plate? Good news!  Soon, we'll have e-giving cards in the pew racks, so that you can indicate your offering physically during worship.

To sign up for e-giving, click  here.  If you'd like to learn more about e-giving, please email our Financial Secretary,  Carrie Dahlberg,
here.

Jesse Michael Canniff-Kuhn
will be ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament on Monday,
September 4, 2017, 2:00 p.m.
at the Lakeside Cross at Lutheridge.

The address is 2511 Hendersonville Road in Arden, NC 28704.  If the weather is uncooperative we will relocate to the Lutheridge Chapel.  Once inside the gate, proceed up the hill and there will be a sign with arrows indicating where to go.

Your prayers and presence are requested. A light reception will follow the service at Lakeside Lodge. Because we will be outside and it will likely be hot, all rostered ministers are invited to sit where they please and simply bring a stole to put on for the Laying on of Hands. Red is the color of the day.

Jesse has accepted a call to serve as Pastor at Lutheran Church of Our Father in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Veterans Restoration Center

Thanks to the generous support of Nativity members, a hot meal is provided monthly by a Nativity Cook Team to over 150 veterans who are on their way towards building a better life. This program is provided by the Veterans Restoration Center and supported by churches throughout Asheville including Nativity!  What a wonderful way to say thank you to veterans who have served our country so honorably and ably throughout the years.

Romans
In honor of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the synod's Reformation 500 and Book of Faith Task Groups are pleased to present an online summer Bible study-Reformers Reading Romans-with lessons by Lutherans from all over NC.
