Dear Fifth Grade Families,
We have planned an overnight field trip for the fifth grade to the Heartland Outdoor School from Tuesday to Wednesday, September 5-6. The field trip is a wonderful opportunity for the students to get to know each other better and bond with their peers. Some of the classes students may be participating in at Heartland are: Archery, Climbing Wall, Eco-Explorers, Mad About Mammals, Mad Scientist, Reps & Amps, and Wilderness Survival.

Please complete Heartland's Medical Release Form and return to your child's homeroom teacher by Friday, August 25. We will be sending home a comprehensive list of items to pack for this trip closer to its departure date.

There will be a parent and student orientation from 3:15-4:15 p.m. on Monday, August 21. Teachers will meet with parents and fifth-graders in the school's Schoedinger Theatre to discuss the upcoming trip. Please mark this date on your calendar and plan to attend so all your questions about the Heartland Outdoor School may be answered. Directly following, please join us for the Lower School's Meet-Your-Teachers Ice Cream Social in the bus circle.

The charge for this trip is $115.00 and will be billed to each student's account. We encourage all students to participate. If the charge for the field trip is a hardship, please contact new Head of Lower School Mark Hansen.

We have planned the trip early in the year to take advantage of what we hope will be good weather and to create a bonding experience for the class. We hope your child will learn as well as have fun creating memories to last for many years.
Sincerely,

The Fifth Grade Team
