Main Street Challenge Grant

Downtown Partners is seeking project proposals for the state funded Main Street Challenge Grant. The maximum grant award is $75,000 with a minimum 1:1 cash match required. The project must be downtown; work already begun is not eligible for funding. For application information, click here. The project summary deadline is August 11.
Farmers Market Heats Up

The Jefferson St. Farmers Market continues to attract big crowds and more new vendors and food vendors than ever before, enticing people to enjoy the market and downtown longer. The market is on the 200 - 500 blocks of Jefferson from 4:30 - 7:30 PM every Thursday for the rest of the season. On August 10, join us for the sixth annual jalapeƱo eating contest, and August 17 is a special Family Day to celebrate the last market before school starts. A special thanks to Two Rivers Bank & Trust for their support of the market.
Outdoor Movies Conclude Downtown

There's one more great movie showing on the side of Drake Hardware and Software at Fifth and Valley Streets this summer:

Friday, August 4    Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Sponsored by TD&T

The movie starts at dusk, but there are games and activities beforehand. Check the Downtown Burlington, Iowa page on Facebook for updates in case of inclement weather. Thanks to Drake Hardware and Software and Elks Lodge #84 for making the 5 & V Downtown Cinema possible.

The Latest News...
  • What can we say? A Very Vintage Market was again a great success, with big crowds and three times as many vendors as last year! It drew visitors from Des Moines to Peoria and beyond. A very special thanks to Pat Curtis and Hillaurie Fritz-Bonar for all their work to make this event so sensational.
  • The American Queen , the largest riverboat steamboat ever built, will be in port here on Saturday, August 19 from about 8 AM to 5 PM. While not open for tours, you can go down and take a look at her.  This will be the only scheduled riverboat stop this year.
  • Work on the riverfront flood wall is underway. The City expects the project to wrap up by next summer. Other projects coming up include the addition of more parking in the 200 block of Jefferson and much needed improvements to the parking lot at Sixth and Washington.
