UNDERSTANDING THE BASICS OF RADIOLOGY PROCEDURES AND PATIENT PREPARATION

Objectives:

1. Understand the different uses for MRI and CT procedures.

2. What preparation is used for either of these radiographic procedures and why?

3. When is ultrasound utilized in radiology and why?

4. Understanding the need for NPO by patients for certain radiology exams and the consequences of poor patient education for these procedures.

5. What contraindications prevent certain radiology exams and why?

6. Patient safety (MR/CT screening questions, contrast reaction, GFR etc)
