Hi Friends!

I look forward to being in worship with you this Sunday!  Last Sunday, Associate Pastor Megan Katerjian closed out our "Begin" sermon series using Acts 2:42-47 to talk to us about "Beginning a New Church." If you missed the sermon, here it is for you to view and share.
Beginning a New Church
Beginning a New Church

Two Sundays ago I suggested you read the Gospel of Matthew in preparation for a new series which we'll begin this Sunday,
"Follow," a repeated word in the Gospel of Matthew. To be a disciple of Jesus is to follow him, to watch what he does, to listen to what he says, to be obedient to him, to allow the shape of his life to be pressed into our own, and so participate in the Kingdom of God.

Remember that beginning this Sunday we are back to our regular 3 worship service hours (7:55, 9:25 & 11:00AM). Because of the special music we have this Sunday, all 3 worship services will be held in the Sanctuary; then beginning September 17, we will go back to having our 11:00AM worship service in the Worship Arts Center.

Peace,
Pastor Jeff

This Sunday is the deadline to help provide school supplies for children at Door of Hope, a Christ-centered transitional housing and service organization.  Click here for a list.  Also consider joining us for Dinner with Residents this coming Wednesday, September 13, 5:30-7:30PM.  You will tour the facility, get to know current residents over dinner together, and then play with their kids on the playground after dinner.  No experience necessary, and kids are welcome.  Click here to register.

Join us as we bring Sunday afternoon to a close and prepare for the week ahead.  We gather in the intimacy of the Cook Prayer chapel for an experience of sacred close-up jazz with the Jack Lantz Trio.

Weekly Parent-Child Classes for parents and their children ranging in ages from infants to five-years old. Parent-Only classes offered for parents of school-age children ranging from K through 12th grade. Discussion Only options also available for select classes. Classes begin SEPT 12-15.  Click on slide above to register.

Children, teens & parents can learn how to recognize stress in their lives, and develop awareness of signs & symptoms of stress. We'll also learn how to reduce the impact of stress and practice implementing some solutions and increasing compassion in our relationships.

Join us in the Sanctuary for composer Olivier Messiaen's work "Quartet for the End of Time," based on five verses from the Book of Revelation.  It was composed and first heard on a brutally cold January night in 1941, at the Stalag VIIIA prisoner-of-war camp, in Görlitz, Germany.  The Crescenta Ensemble was founded by Jacqueline Suzuki, a member of our LCPC Orchestra and consists of a violin, clarinet and cello and piano.

Our Chancel Choir resumes rehearsals on Thursdays at 7:30PM in the Burcham Rehearsal Hall. New members are welcome on all parts.  Anyone with a tuneful voice is welcome to join.  Prior choral experience is helpful, but not necessary.  No audition is required.  The sole prerequisite is a love of praising God through musical worship and ministry.    It is a great way to make friends, worship God and make music at the same time!  For more information, contact Jack Lantz, Director of Music & Worship Arts,  [email protected] or 626-796-9090.
