Tony Rojas, Slalom

The latest issue of Executive Perspective features Tony Rojas, president of Slalom, a business and technology consulting firm headquartered in Seattle. Founded in 2001, the company employs ~4,600 people in 25 offices across the US, UK and Canada . Approaching $1 billion in revenue, Slalom has shown consistently strong revenue growth -- a CAGR of ~30 percent over the last 10 years.

Sharing the factors driving Slalom's success, Tony highlights the strengths behind two of the company's core philosophies: operating as a private company and growing 100% organically. As he explores how the rapid pace of the  cloud environment has generated new opportunities, Tony identifies key growth areas for the firm -- such as international and domestic expansion, collaboration across markets, and development of management consulting and technology solution capabilities. Tony  also discusses how people in Seattle, a city known for its innovation, have embedded in their DNA a "combination of entrepreneurialism and a blue-collar work ethic."

Disclosing his personal model of success, Tony shares the purpose that drives Slalom every day: to "help our colleagues, clients and communities reach for and realize the visions that result in greater love of work and life." Expanding upon that vision, Tony concludes the interview with two key pieces of advice -- what he, as former president and co-CEO of Corbis, had observed while working with Bill Gates, and what stood out to him at the beginning of his career as a CPA at Deloitte. Maintaining that "it's not just about revenue or a number," Tony encourages readers to "walk into a world of color" and look beyond the confines of the merely quantifiable.
