To the right is a picture of
Hurricane Harvey as seen from the International Space Station last Friday. That is one incredibly massive hurricane that, as we know, has taken 30+ lives thus far, has left thousands displaced and much of south Texas under water. Ace Hardware corporately has assisted local retailers in getting much needed supplies to the area, using Cypress Hardware near Houston as a 'will call' location for other stores to get what they needed out of five trailers of supplies. As of the 30th, they have further been able to deliver 3 trailers each to Port Lavaca and Beaumont and 5 trailers of supplies to hardest hit Rockport. Ace Corporate also reacted incredibly fast by creating an easy way for all retailers to collect money for relief efforts. You may have seen our 'round-up' function at our registers these past few days. In just two days, YOU, our
amazing customers have donated almost
$5500 that will go directly to the Red Cross for relief efforts. I am incredibly humbled and proud. Thank you so so so very much. Know that Paul's Ace Hardware will double your donations up to $10,000.
 More thanks are in order to you as well. On August 17th, I was able to present a big, fun cardboard check from all local Ace Hardware stores to Phoenix Children's Hospital, (our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital) in the amount of
$10,000. That is just a fraction of what you have opened your hearts and wallets to our ask this past year - from rounding up your purchase, to putting your coins in the swirling gravity dispensers and counter displays to purchasing the Blue Miracle Buckets in August, (that you doubled this year over last BTW. Let's double next year!) Use that bucket proudly as you are amazing! Again, a humble thank you to you.
Who is ready for cooler temps? I am!! ← raises hand emphatically! Are you with me?! Let's put our heads together and think positively. It will get cooler, it will get cooler. Keep saying it! Even if it doesn't get cooler soon, we have some cool things happening in September to keep our minds off of the heat! Our Tempe location at Priest & Broadway is FINALLY finished with their remodel and I must say, it looks Fan.Tas.Tic! Join us on Saturday, September 9th for a Grand Re-Opening! Then we will have a fun Kids Club Event at our Scottsdale & McDowell location on Saturday, September 16th, which will be uber fun and you need to come out and play with us. Finally, you HAVE to plan to go get your laugh on at the 4th Annual Night at The Improv on September 21st to raise money for Phoenix Children's Hospital! You are going to have to take rest days with all of the fun we have on tap this month :) So much fun, so many things happening and to top it off, savings all month long with Red Hot Buys. 4th Annual Night at the Improv!
The laughs are on your valley Ace Hardware stores on September 21st as we host our 4th Annual, A Night at the Tempe Improv! The ENTIRE amount of your $25 ticket will go to our local Phoenix Children's Hospital. So join us to see favorite local comedians and raise some money! My sister, Julie, and I have been coming to Paul's literally since we were born, and while it might not look like it in
this picture
, we always loved to come. My favorite location was on 4th street in Scottsdale. Lots of places for a kid to hide at that store. Fun memories. :) Now, our kids love to come to "Mommy's Ace". We want to make sure your kids enjoy coming here too! That's why we have Paul's Kids Club! It's getting to be that time again!
I know it doesn't feel like it quite yet, but Fall really is just around the corner. And that means its also time to make your neighbors jealous of your lush, green, beautiful winter lawn! Yes, it is time to get started or at least start planning.
In order to be successful, it's most important to begin preparation for overseeding in mid-September to mid-October. During that time, gradually lower the mowing heights over successive mowing cycles until reaching a 3/4" height with a rotary mower or 1/2" height with a reel mower.
